To my collection but looking on the Net the Singapore made 009's are significantly cheaper than the 009's made in Japan is there a problem with the Singapore models in movement or fit and finish. They seem to look the part anybody know and can advice before I pull the pin.
Cheers Mark

No issues with the K ones vs the J's. The J ones apparently aren't even completely made in Japan, from what I read. I looked into this on several forums some time ago, and ended up opting for the 007K instead of the J, since the price difference seemed to be mostly psychological.
I'd say pull the trigger, mate!

From what I've read, Hobbes is spot on. Nice choice for an addition, I will no doubt own both the 007/009 in time.

Both are assembled on the same line in the same factory. So, same quality with the only difference being the extra text on the J. The K and J designators in the model number don't indicate where these watches are made; it is only used to denote the intended market of distribution(this directly from Seiko themselves, when asked). Watches haven't been assembled in Singapore since some time in 2006 when the plant moved to Malaysia. Much, if not all, of that assembly work has recently been moved to China. If you are really looking at a Singapore model; then it will have the 7s26A movement which doesn't have the design flaw introduced in the B and carried on into the C versions.

Correctamundo...
The dial text would be the only difference, but for me, it's a key one. To my eyes, the extra dial text balances and completes the design. We see the same thing with the 7002 when the text transitioned to one line, Diver's 200m. Just doesn't look as nice as the two lines of text on the 150m version.
To me, the 007/009 is an excellent value at either the K or J price. Is it worth the extra thirty bucks for the J? Totally depends on the buyer. For me, yes.
