Its just marketing. The Oceanus failed in the US at least because Casio never promoted it. Same can be said for the Citizen Campanola line. Besides, there's onlyso many people willing to drop a grand on a Casio. The Edifice seems to be targeting the folks who out grow plastic watches and camping watches. Sporty professional. I think it makes sense. In addition some of the Edifice models seem to be getting the same tech that the Oceanus models had.

What you say makes a lot of sense... some of the Oceanus were getting very expensive... they also seemed to be too complicted... maybe some of the Edifices are the same thing but cost bout half as much. Thanks.

I think all watch companies play "product/model roulette". So if you see one of their watches you like and can afford, grab it; it may not be around tomorrow. JMHO.

Oceanus line is still alive and well in Japan. oceanus.casio.jp/lineup/index.htmlI suppose it is Casio's answer to the Citizen Attesa line....well finished, coated titanium, AR sapphire, full of tech inside. I had borrowed a model from a friend many years ago. It was nice enough. Titanium didn't do much for me. Certainly not willing to pay the premium is seems to command. I think delivering a lot of the same features in the steel Edifice line makes a lot of sense.

Thanks for the info.... but why did they start with cheapo quartzes of about 60 bucks... they were not pretty watches at all.
