I know these types of things happen to everyone, but they just remind me as to why I prefer to buy from a reputable collector/hobbyist. I just need to vent a bit, regarding a couple recent purchases. The two nice watches I received yesterday, were purchased from the same seller. They state in their auctions, that they will combing shipping on multiple items. I requested an invoice after the auctions ended, so I wouldn't need to pay double shipping and deal with waiting for a refund. Well, they did not respond, so I just went ahead and paid. When they finally sent me a refund, of course it was $.50 short (shipping was $4.50 each item). Definitely not a huge deal, just a minor irritant, but one that I will not pursue. The recent 6138 Yachtsman I purchased, was not represented properly by the seller. Prior to bidding on it, I asked if the chrono functions were working properly. The sellers response was yes, they were. When I received it, the pushers were not functioning properly. I took a quick peek, and turns out the pushers were slightly bent, and one was missing it's spring. Don't get me wrong, I am super stoked with the watch for the price I paid. I just find it irritating, when sellers blatantly misrepresent their wares. I contacted the seller, and let him know what the problems were, hoping to come to a resolution. He told me he had a "watch guy" who could fix it, and that his "watch guy" said it was a $15 fix. If I wanted to get it repaired myself, he would cover that cost + shipping. Well, I decided I'd rather send it to my watch guy, so we agreed upon a refund amount. Here's another slight irritation.....Instead of giving me a "refund", he just sends me a payment for goods so I get dinged with PP fees in the process. The third watch I received yesterday, was also a bit misrepresented...but I'm not even going to get into it. deep-sigh-smiley-emoticon

IMHO, some ebay sellers purposely misrepresent/misdescribe. Others are just ignorant of the product they are selling.
I recently read the auction info of one U.K. ebayer for a Casio RC model that he states receives signals from Europe. But the particular model offered is designed to receive signals only from USA and Japan.

I agree with you about buying from the Bay but the same thing can also be said buying from other Venues too such as Craigs list. My recently arrived H803 for instance is also a good example........ Seller stated it was in excellent condition and all functions worked perfectly but that wasnt quite the case... the bezel had so much crap under it that it wouldnt turn at all and I had to remove it, clean it etc to make it function properly. He also forgot to mention the Gnarly scratch on the crystal which really detracts from the over all appearance and which did not show in his pic. It will cost me another $35.00 for the new crystal. For what little I paid for the watch even including the price of the crystal it;s well worth 2x what I paid for it but none the less it wasnt quite fully advertized properly. As to buying from other members here............ in 99% of the time I have gotten exactly what was advertized with NO problems but there have been 2 instances when things werent just quite right with the item and ended up costing me more to fix it then it was actually worth in the beginning. Lesson learned......... you can NEVER ask too many questions!

These things do happen over time and the more that you purchase the higher the rate of seller misrepresentation tends to exist on the bay.
Point in fact, I recently picked up a second 6138-0011 "yachtsman" for a good price. It was listed as running fine with the chronograph functions 100% It arrived with buggered pushers, no springs and barely beating. The seller has an ok rep and after a little back and forth between us I ended up getting the watch for $25. I'm more than fine with that price and I've already got it running properly Even with all my knowledge of these things there is always a chance that I can miss something evident in the photos or become a victim of a shady seller foisting junk. Buyer beware gang! You pays your money and takes your chances. The only honest sellers that we can deal with are right here on the forums.

I feel your pain!
I won an auction on the 27th. I paid when I won it. Paypal won't pay because the email address isn't registered even though she has a feedback number in the hundreds.
I've written her. Several different ways. I have not heard one word back.
Tried going through the steps with ebay. Ebay doesn't really want you contacting them from what I can see.
I'm guessing she changed her email address and didn't tell anyone.
At least a have a paperless trail of trying to contact her.
Aggravating!
