Continuing from threads in a galaxy far, far away lol As many may have noticed, I have argued for Rolex and, just as often, against Rolex. But I do know that I have always wanted one and so, eventually, there comes a point where you just have to experience the brand for real. And so...............my latest acquisition. Rolex Submariner 14060M. And I have to say that I think it's stunning. In my opinion the 'classic' sub. No date to worry about, it just tells the time and that's it! It weighs in at 127 gms sized for my 7.5" wrist and is extremely comfortable. I had visions of having to wear it on a Zulu strap as I don't like heavy watches, but this feels quite acceptable with the bracelet and you barely know you're wearing it after a while - apart from being very conscious as to what you do with your left wrist that is hehe (tending to wear it under the sleeve of something at the moment, need to pluck up the courage to wear it with a t-shirt!). Hopefully I'll never need to try and get my money back and it'll be a keeper! Now don't get me started on Rolex service prices or parts policy.........let me enjoy it for a while first Attachments:

Congrats Nigel! You deserve it my friend. Enjoy in good health. I look forward to seeing some more pics of her as well. I'd say she needs a centerfold photo shoot.

Thanks Chris.......not sure I deserve the watch and I feel bloody guilty about spending so much money on a brand I both love and hate in equal measures. But I cannot deny the beauty of the watch.......wish I'd designed it! Though after adding my own first ding, I'm well on the way to redesigning it rofl Centrefold shoot...........does that mean I get to cavort with scantily clad females

Congrats! Many years ago my first Rolex was a 14060. I was a hater of the brand like many before trying it but once I experienced the Submariner for myself it was game over. My favorite watch by far is the sub and the older the better IMO. Its an absolute classic! Enjoy the heritage!

There was one that was put up on eBay a year-odd ago - the original owner bought it in like '59 when he was a doctor in the USN, at a base (Guam?) and wore it regularly until the 70s, and then put it away. He listed it on eBay with a starting bid of $9.99. Thing was 100% original - beautiful creamy lume, fantastic condition. Sold for like 60 grand.

Well done son, I too have the duality of thought re the Rolie, but that is, as you stated, 'simply' a great watch with insane heritage and it will never, ever date, no pun intended . . . a proper tool, the watch I mean. Clap Clap Clap Bravo

And the Cal 3130 movement will last for decades with minimal attention. This thing is a TANK, it can take anything life dishes your way.
Congratulations, the 14060M is The Classic Swiss Dive Watch. I am partial also to the new 114060 which also features the uncluttered dial without a date.
BTW, people call the 14060M a "No Date Sub" but that is a misnomer. In fact, it is a "Submariner". Period. The variants with dates are "Submariner - Date." It's like calling a Datejust a 'no date DayDate."

Cheers all :-)
Would love to wear it everyday and not worry about it.....there is something very cool about a well worn, wabi'd Sub.......it flies in the face of all the shiny bling, celeb, Rolexes.
But it's going to have to be a bit of a special occasion watch for me :-(..........Daft really. I need to change my mentality towards watches - they should be worn and used without fear.
It's just that Rolex repair prices scare the heck out of me jaw-drop-smiley-emoticon

Congratulations on your new Rolex Sub , its a nice piece . I hope someday to purchase a expensive similar timepiece "but am dreaming" that i could ever afford one . Although if i could , it would do my head in what to buy ? A Grand Seiko SD Diver or Rolex DeepSea ? Both are equally stunning Divers watches .

Its so much fun trashing Rolex. Rolex is so much more than the actual watch its unavoidable. But ignoring everything else and just focusing on the watch, Sub in particular, it is a perfect aesthetic. Just a shame they cost so damn much. I'm a straight up value guy and I don't spend on the intangibles.

Rolex is the only watch I wore for 13 years and sold for its original cost.
