A heirloom finally came in the mail yesterday. I remember my late father wore this watch during his meetings. Vintage 1981 Rolex submariner ref. 16800 all original always been in the family as far as I could remeber.

Yes being your father's makes it something more than just a watch. And I still covet a Submariner Date and this one is gorgeous. Such a classic look and while not overly large it has the wrist presence of a much larger watch.
Simply unbeatable.

Being your Dad's it's all the more special. I too was lucky enough to be gifted a Rolex GMT Master 16700 by my Dad. It's a watch I would have never been able to afford, my Dad gave it to me when I gained my passion for automatic watches. I will be wearing mine later today. Rolex truly are a thing of great beauty. Enjoy

Beautiful watch @sel and as everyone said, it doesn't get more special than one handed down. Could be a Timex and you'd love it but hey, what an iconic and beautiful watch this one is. I'm already excited to see the next batch from your uncle!

Enjoy I'm definitely sure that I wouldn't be able to afford this watch even the 6309 have gone up, it's crazy. I like the Rolex but it's not my kind of style plus I'm afraid I might break it then I wouldn't be able to afford the service๐ฉ Your GMT is beautiful it's mush less commmon than submariner. ๐

Thank you guys๐๐๐ I have probably mention this before that his daily beater is 6309, 16800 for business meetings and most certainly 6306 is for shopping or taking my mom out for lunch/dinner. 6309 and 6306 have share some sour and great memories and I want to do the same as that. However, I'm not rich so I'm going to learn how to service this watches or sacrifice some to save others. Right now I'm driven to do anything and learn starting from scratch to become a honorologist. Hehehe I can't believe I'm saying it... but, the feeling is such wonderful no wonder you folks like your automatic watch so much.

Aloha sel,
Great collection there and Dad's at that. Looks like one by one they can visit a very trusted Watchmaker for a complete service and
then find a beautiful box or the to be separately stored. They can be used but should be professionally serviced to make them
complete. Your Dad had great taste and very powerful in his choices of many things from what it looks like.
Enjoy every bit of them sell and continue your pursuit into the watch world also.
Aloha and Mahalo for your good postings ...Sel.
