Is anyone here familiar with this watch?
Oris Artix GT Chronograph, Reference 01 774 7661 4424-07 8 22 87
I really like the looks of this watch and am seriously considering making this the next addition to my collection. I've heard good things about Oris watches, but I've never owned one, and do not know anyone who does.
I will appreciate you all providing your opinions/personal experiences with this particular watch, and/or Oris watches in general.
Thank you.

I can't say much about that particular watch, but I have owned an Oris since Xmas of '95 or may it was '96. It was my daily watch for 4 or 5 years and then I started to rotate as I bought more watches. It kept and continues to keep fantastic time. Others at work are also, sort of, into, watches. One guy with a bit better means bought one to wear at work in about 2000 and wore it to the point it needed a service. The date wouldn't always lineup in the window, and it might have started to fog under the crystal. Before he sent it out he bought another Oris (blue bezel diver??) so he had one on his wrist while the other was away. The second one has been back in the shop several times because of the bracelet, seems links keep coming apart or something. He always sends it back to Oris for repairs and they are excruciatingly slow. It could take 3 months to get it back. I told him last time to just buy a different bracelet, since its not got the goofy cutouts like Swatch watches...I think he was sending it back to them for the warranty work. I have read and he mentioned that they had changed service centers and service got worse. There's another forum that I have read of similar stories about getting work done right the first time when they need to send it in. Others like me say they have never needed to send theirs in...
All that said of these three I have knowledge of they have been great watches and I'm constantly looking for a used one to add to my collection.

I bought my wife an Oris dive watch about 50 years ago and I recently gave it a service, only needed a grease and oil change 17 jewel not the most expensive looking movement but it kept on keeping on.

Hi.The older Oris watches were restricted to using a pin lever arrangement made in house under a Swiss manufacturers agreement. The modern items use ETA movements so new chronos would probably use 7750 movement. Quality wise I would say they are second tier. Cheers Phil
