Gentlemen, is it possible to fit a 6306 hacking lever to a 6309? Are there previous posts describing the process (and does it work!)? Grateful for any input Best regards, Nick

No...and yes, you'd need the original 6306 centre wheel bridge. I've seen Rogart machine the groove from a 6309 centre wheel bridge. There is also a sticky all about the differences between the 6306/6309/6319 so as to make a higher jewel count, hacking hybrid.

A fellow in Austrakia by the name of Pete Kuhn(sp?) used to have hacking kits for the 6309. I'm not sure if he still does but it is definitely possible

I wish they were still being made Pete. I remember someone had one for sale not long ago but I missed the boat.

Aloha Louis! Great stuff thank you! I've seen a couple of the threads in the past but it's really tempted me to try and do a couple of the plates myself. I will talk to my Dad over the week and see if we have any ideas. I snapped up a couple of hacking levers from Stefan a while ago, and also have a few 6309 movements that it would be great to 'upgrade' based on this info and Sam's comparison thread.

Aloha Sir, Great Guy and if you need more pictures let me know and use my email it is better. I have a couple I made because I like to try things and they came out quite good. The main part is making that ...Bridge Plate with the groove once that is done you be just fine. If you have a small drill press and a Press Vise and know how to use ....what Machinist call ...( Milling Bits ) then you can do a process called ....( Fly Cutting ). That's when you clean off (Mill) the un-needed metal to make what you want. It can be done if no Milling Machine present. NOTE: Make a little Jig with some wood and set it up on the ... " Drill press Table Plate " , then you can use it to guide the vise holding .... The Bridge Plate .... and cut as you need too. Aloha Louis 6106-6105 6309 Converted :Bridge Plate :

Cheers Louis. Are these parts brass and then plated? What's the material on the centre wheel bridge?

I converted 2 6309 watches to include the hacking feature recently . It was easy, no special tools required. I purchased two 6306 hacking levers on the well known auction site for I think $12 each and machined the groove in the center wheel bridges using a file and diamond bit with a dremill tool. I did not replace the bridge since it will seldom be seen by anyone but me. I then added jewels to the barrel bridge and main plate ( Adrians special). The 6105 hacking levers( available from a philippine supplier are a different configuration so my advice is to find the 6306 levers which do come up for sale occasionally.
