Hey looks like a well oiled 17 jewel bump wind. I can't seem to Google any info on the movement. I'd like to id it before stripping it and maybe needing parts...I generally will try and have "an Extra" before starting. Dial is marked TimeCraft, movement marked "Sponta", TOK is the importers mark. Looking a RANFFT and NAWCC sites and I get nothing for TOK? Outside of a few copies of the same article, about timecraft in NY, I've come up empty. I've yet to have a Swiss Automatic apart, let alone an older bumper...Funny even with all that oil its keeping time...sort of. It gives me relief that my pallet oiling isn't too bad! Any advice before I begin? As Always thanks in advance,

AS1250
Pete you are an absolute encyclopedia!
Nope...just a trivia trapper I saw the bumper and went to ranfft and searched 'bumper'. Didn't take long to find what we wanted to know Bumper autos are cool. They were the forerunners of the modern auto winders.

ranfft has it listed as from 1940-1953, might just be the oldest watch I've worked on yet. Wish me luck

I think most were mid tier like their Felsa, ETA or Enicar competition. Felsa was one of the first to offer the modern auto winding system.

Hi. I have bumper in Felca, Gruen and Omega. I believe Felsa made their own and may have invented the system. The omega bumpers can be a bit more expensive than the others, often bringing well over $1k. Cheers Phil

Yeah.Had a peek at my records on this movement. Invented by Felsa and known as Bidynator, strong movement used by many watch makers. Rolex were single direction 360 degree rotors while bidynator was two directional 120 degree rotor. Somewhere along the line A.Shild took over Felsa . Explanation of who owned which ebauche company and when becomes a major work well covered elsewhere in the evolution of eta. Cheers Phil
