The other day at work some new plants came in (not the other day when 1,000 plants and bushes came in) but this time only 4 pallets worth. The part time kid said we got some more Venus Fly Traps in. I never knew we had them before. So I said I am going to break my no plants / no pets / no goldfish rule and get one. How hard can it be to water a plant everyday and put it in the window. Well I was about to buy one yesterday when I did a quick search on which soil to buy and it turns out these are extremely high maintenance. No dirt, no fertilizer, no tap water (only rain water or distilled water), don't water too often, each trap can only digest 4 or so bugs before it dies, if it partially traps a bug the trap dies, you don't want it to flower otherwise you get less traps, you have to put in the refridgerator in winter to keep it dormant, and so on and so on and so on. I found the perfect pot for them but I am not going to pay $20 for it on clearance let alone the $30 they originally wanted I'll wait for it to go down to $5 but it would fit perfectly

Nice, what did you name them? J and Shaggy. If I can keep them alive for a week or 2 I might get another one and as promised name it "Li'l Peter Muncher"

You're not supposed to feed them people food and they won't close unless the bug or food is alive and moving for a certain amount of time in the trap. You don't want to trip the trap for fun because opening the trap back up requires a lot more energy than closing it and stresses the plant.

It might be good for North Siders if they come around.... . You should have had them when Cooter was around and the halves. One by one they would have disappeared...... . You have better watch your fingers also , you need them to do watch work.

I remember seeing this plant in a book when I was about 6 years old. Scared the shit out of me! (I thought it was bigger and could snap it's jaws on a kid)

No but I bet I never will although it would be a fun sight to witness. Just wait until 'The Li'l Peter Muncher' farts! You will wish you had bought goldfish BTW; I love your pot selection 7dfe79adc2f0

The Riddle Box reference only came after I saw them together.

No but I bet I never will although it would be a fun sight to witness. I was bustin' you Josh . . . . some people buy a cat if they have rodent problems! It most certainly would be cool to see that.

Well tonight I brought home "Li'L Peter Muncher" I'll have to cut out a few of his non matching troublemakers. I'll have to get him his own pot so that he has a "safe space" so that J and Shaggy don't turn vegetarian and eat his ass

No worries; J and Shaggy look anemic compared to the very robust and macho Li'l Peter Muncher. In fact I think the goldfish pot is perfect for him 7dfe79adc2f0

I hope you don't run out of flies soon, with all the flesh eating plants around... Better watch out when you accidentally stumble over one in the night and it's hungry...
