I picked this up at the weekend for just over £26 (not sure if that's good or bad) and the postie has just delivered it - Seiko Skyliner from November '64. It ticks, but not for long, so is clearly in need of a service. Calibre 402, which is the forerunner to the 6220, caseback is stamped J12080. Hopefully I can polish the crystal but wondered if anyone knows what replacement would be needed? Paging Rod.....

I’ve picked up a couple of these in gold which are waiting to get fixed up, need a jewel putting in one and the other is not stripped yet. Beautiful watches for not a lot of cash.

Wow. It's amazing how many different versions Seiko has come up with over the years.

Interesting piece! I imagine that with its squarish design, it would fare very well on a brown leather bund strap.

My early book don't list this one, but if peenemunde could quote the caseback from his it may help. I have one but it's a slightly different case design and later built. 6222-7030 It's crystal is 280T01AN, being a "01" version of this crystal it's either the same or the first for the different case design.

I did a search on Borel using that reference a little earlier which also stated that as the crystal. When I measured it last night with my calipers it came up as 27.0mm. None available at my usual outlets, but I’m actually happy enough with the outcome of a bit of polishing. Very useful for future reference though, thanks for your assistance as always.

Does that mean the ref is wrong then Nick as that indicates 27.3mm doesn’t it? By the way, in your manor this morning, have a mtg in Sittingbourne but on orders to go straight back afterwards as there’s an event at my sons school I’m expected at Maybe next time I can plan it better.

Might be me measuring it wrong Phil, can’t remember if I zeroed the calipers or not. It’s fitted now so I’ll leave it as it is.

That's a beautiful watch! Now treat yourself to a period-correct Prince Skyline to go along with it!

Adoro questo design ... Holy thread resurrection Batman!
I have this exact Skyliner that is being serviced and Zaratsu polished in Poland.
I have looked for old advertisements for these and want to know what kind of bracelet/strap came on it originally.
Do you, or anyone else happen to know?
I'd like to have it look factory.
Thanks.

May have come back from the dead, but since I've never seen it I've enjoyed the resurrection!
That begs the question leffemonster, how is it doing these days?
