I'm going to go digging through the big box I keep all my boxes. Maybe I have one of these in there.

Even $700 seems ridiculous to me, must have sold to someone stinking rich or, I suppose if you had a model worth thousands then having the right box might well increase it's resale value beyond the extra expense of the box.
Better keep your dogs away from it if you get one.

Yeah it's not uncommon for the Heuer boxes to sell for that. Actually that wasn't too bad a price, if you think those are crazy check out what some the Corfam straps go for and beads of rice GF bracelets. During the 60's and 70's Heuer would normally just come in a long narrow cardboard box. The box shown above is, for a lack of a better term, a presentation box. There were a few variations over the years, but mostly similar to that.
For the most part the boxes tend to get put together with Monaco's, "Siffert" Autavia's, and a few of the other top shelf Heuer's. They can range in value from about 5k to 15k+. So for someone that has an all original/mint condition Monaco that they bought for 8 grand then 600 or 700 for a box isn't too bad.
