Sorry to hear this Pete! As soon as my foot heals I'll be out looking again but at 67 not much hope do I have. It's a bitch this getting older bit As far as employment goes, I've found that agism is alive and well. The trouble is that interviewers are already biased towards older people because they often wrongly assume that they will cost more to hire and/or are over qualified. They also incorrectly assume that older workers are not trainable or retrainable. Oh well that is their loss because they cannot buy experience with lower paid inexperienced workers.
That being said, there are definitely jobs/positions out there just waiting for folks like you and I. Networking will get the jobs; not resumes or answering ads in the paper or job sites.
It definitely is WHO you know and not WHAT you know that counts at the end of the day 7dfe79adc2f0

I reached out and made a call today to one a former vendor rep to try and fix a problem at work and to feel out what was out there.
I could have a new job tomorrow as he said there was a place looking hard for someone but I don't know if I want to spend an hour in rush hour traffic each way everyday as me and idiots on the road don't get along well.
Waiting to hear back from him in the next few weeks about the $ once he puts it out there.

If the money is good and the hours are regular; just drive a beater and don't worry about scratches. Get some motivational tapes or language tapes or whatever and put those commute hours to good use

I was typing up a story in response and of course the window somehow crashed.
This usually happens later in the night after a few and maybe some sort of natural defense happens to prevent me from posting some shit that I normally or probably shouldn't have.
So I will leave it at that and hope for the best for the future.

Time for an update.
Since I updated my Linked In profile to 'contractor available' there has been a lot of looking and some contacts. Until yesterday there hasn't been anything solid but now I will officially be back in the contracting game with a new project scheduled to start about two weeks from now. This is how it always goes; get one under the belt and then they start rolling in. Sometimes they spawn new projects and sometimes they end up competing with other wants/needs.
So long as they keep coming, I don't care
But seriously, I really was looking forward to retirement

Good news Pete, always better to have the option rather than being forced.
