As some of you know from the what have you got coming in the mail thread, I had ordered a Made In The USA specimen from the Weiss Watch Company back in mid-August and I'm pleased to say it's here! Now this baby is my first hand-winder and represents the most I've ever shelled out for a timepiece. Granted, the latter is relative but I like to keep things well below $1K. This one comes close to the upper reaches in US funds & over in CDN funds! Be that as it may, thought I'd treat myself since I'd been away from the hobby for a while. Most certainly I strayed a bit since my return. Ok, enough of the preamble. I decided to step away from the diver category and I always kinda fancied the pilot/field varieties especially those with a sub-seconds dial. I also wanted to avoid the "giant" ones that seem so prevalent these days and this 38mm Standard Issue Field Watch by Cameron Weiss seemed to tick most of the boxes for me. For now, I'll spare you the specs of this watch and just focus on the aesthetics. Buying a watch on-line without seeing one in the flesh can carry some risk and the first thing that struck me was the lug design. Let's just say it's different and I like it. Rather than having a curve to them, the lugs come strait out which seems like a new take on a classic style. It may not be to everyone's liking but I find it unique. The other thing I have to say is this watch is a bugger to photograph! With no AR coating to the sapphire crystal, this watch reflects damn near everything, but that's ok by me. So there you have it folks and as they say....thanks for looking! The honeymoon begins.

Hi Russ. I like those, very similar to the Revue Thommen pilots watch I regularly wear. You will soon get into the habit of winding each morning. Cheers Phil

I just ordered one. I've had my eye on these for a while Good for you! I'm curious which model you ordered? The 38mm may seem small to some but those lugs give it more if not unique presence. Their 42mm offerings look nice too but I wanted the sub-seconds at the 6 o'clock position. Looking forward to hearing furthers! One more thing, did you ever check out Bespoke Watch Projects? They're in California too and John over there seems like a really good egg. Nice watches btw......

I ordered the same model, the lugs got me I hear Weiss will be unveiling a titanium case soon. I heard that too. Also see they released a couple of additional colours (green & blue) for the 38mm. They're more in price which I suspect is because they have a different movement. Looking forward to your reveal!
