I finally got around to doing a mod for myself instead of others and here it is. I call it the SKX Steel after a certain model from Tudor. - SKX171 case - 6r15 handwinding and hacking movement modified to take a day wheel - Sarb crown - black kanji/English day date wheels - SRP777 - thick sapphire with subtle double dome - SKX173 seconds hand - Murphy bi-directional bezel - Yobokies stainless steel bezel insert - Drilled lugs Choosing the SKX171 case for it's better QC of brushing and polishing, I wanted the look of a turtle but in a smaller package. I like the way the crystal sits a bit high than the bezel like on a 6105. The Murphy bezel is a favourite for fit and feel. The sweep seconds hand goes better with the dial IMO. The metal bezel insert helps it go with nearly all my straps and the drilled lugs makes it easier to swap. When on a bracelet it's usually a Strapcode endmill with marinemaster ratcheting clasp. Video can be found on Instagram - 'tunokies'

That looks very much the part of a 'tool watch'; I like it

Nice! I'd like to know more about the bi-directional bezel. How does that go together?

Smart looking mod 7dfe79adc2f0 Thank you. What's the string of numbers and letters?

Nice! I'd like to know more about the bi-directional bezel. How does that go together? Thanks. They're friction fit, no click but have the smoothest nicest action of just about all the aftermarket bezels I've fitted. They don't knock out of place easily either. Top machining by Murphy manufacturing.

Which crystal did you use? Most of the double dome sapphires I see are big, sloping domes designed to fit the sloped bezel inserts.
I have the CT101 Top Hat sapphire from Crystal times that is pretty nice, but I'm looking for something more 6105-ish, as well.

I'm afraid I'm going to disappoint you regarding the crystal. It was sold by DLW when he first started selling crystals. If I remember correctly it was described as 4.1 or 4.2 mm high dome and didn't really go with his bezel inserts. I ended up with it after remodding a watch for someone who wanted a ct037cis. I suspect Alex's ct094 or ct099 might work for you with a flat bezel insert but I don't know if the sides are frosted all the way up or not. Regards the drilled lugs. A drill press yes. More importantly though a jig to hold the case and guide a small drill bit to exactly the right spot and hold the drill bit from wanting to skip off the sloping case. I'd ask John the Tiger Bentley to do it if I were you.
