I diagnosed myself. Started tying my shoelaces looser, soaked my foot twice daily in epsom salt. After the nail started changing colors and eventually came off, my diagnosis was confirmed. Of course I told the wife this was confirmed by Dr. And it was the prescribed treatment. Rob Well, I've had the pain and symptoms since last Tue night / Wed morning and no nail discoloration yet. Just had to take an ibuprofen and two Solpadol just to dull the pain so I can try to get some sleep. To all my worse enemies around the world. You know who you are... I do NOT wish this pain on you ! You sir, are a benevolent enemy

Not funny one fkn bit, Get yourself some INDOMETHACIN 50MG Anyone thinks this is funny needs to experience this. Get this and get well. Just got back from walk in clinic. The Dr prescribed what you listed. He also said I can still take the Solpadol if the pain ramps up as they work well together. Thanks.👍

My Dad suffered from it occasionally. He said it was REALLY painful. I can safely say that this pain is THE worse pain I have ever felt and hopefully wont ever feel again. Last night I got no sleep whatsoever. Ive resorted to sitting down to pee A tad difficult to go standing on one leg

Hopefully the pain is subsiding, when mine flares up, it is typically only terrible for a couple days. The before and after peak pain is not pleasant, but at least somewhat more tolerable.

I was hoping the new pills I got yesterday would have numbed it more. Hopefully it will be a cumulative effect. Woke up 4 times during the night. Trying to find a comfortable position for my foot is a mission in itself. Fast enough so I don't get fully awake but not so fast that I bang it

Once it is full blown, the preventative meds won't help much. Next time, if there is a next time, take them as soon as you feel it coming on.

The more I think about it the more I'm convinced I had the prequal to full brown gout attack a few months ago.
I was helping my brother out on his car and while I was squatting down at the front I felt a twinge in the same toe. That night when I took my trainers off it felt exactly the same as now, ie stiff toe joint unable to scrunch it but without the pain.

Calling all fellow gout sufferers...
How long does it take for the swelling (tophi) to go down?

If you are still dealing with this, it needs to be something severe apparently. Mine typically only last about one week or less, with the worst part only a day or two. I would possibly have them examine you more closely, really figure out why it is dragging on for so long.

Had my blood test results and apparently they showed I was just above the limit for uric acid. Kidney function is good.
Doc is sure I can reduce it with a lifestyle change rather than lifetime of pill popping.
Still odd that i still have a slight swelling and slight pain in my big toe joint though.

Bloody hell does this hurt!!! Flared up Tue night/Wed morning. Even my pyjama brushing it causes me to swear uncontrollably. Get Allopurinol or Celecoxib, I get those prescribed.

I know this is an old thread but I couldn't resist replying. I started getting gout attacks 4-5 years ago. Came out of nowhere, thought I broke a bone in my foot at first. It's the most painful thing I've ever endured, and I've broken bones, had surgeries, etc. I used to get it 3-4 times a year and it would last for a couple weeks at least each time. Brutal. In the end I went on Allopurinol and never looked back. Not a huge fan of taking prescriptions but I never want to go through that again!
