An interesting theme. Because I had stepped away from the hobby for a number of years I guess my favorite watch would have to be the one that scratched my itch to go a different direction away from dive watches. Funny thing, that itch turned into a rash and ended up buying several pieces since August. That said, let's kick it off with the one that brought me back.....my first hand-winder non-Japanese, American made 38 mm standard issue field watch by Weiss.

My favorite of the year is currently being serviced, so I'm unable to post it. But as a substitute, I present this beauty, and the shirt is probably my favorite I've purchased this year.

I've had some good purchases this year. I have a soft spot for 70's digitals, and this one is pretty unusual. Early, chunky and set up with the crown. Came in as a combo with another LCD under $30 Rob

I have really had to pull in my horns as far as buying this year, but I have traded for a few. Here are a couple of my favorite trades. Non-Japanese, unfortunately, and neither is a high-shelf item.

Picked up a couple of beauties this year including an original Sept 71 true pogue.. But one of my favourite watches my white speedy was upgraded also this year to this near mint specimen on my wrist.. The one it replaced was my first vintage Japanese watch I bought and it remains one of the watches I enjoy the most in my collection.. I absolutely love that Speedy! One of my top 5 favorite watches of all time for sure. Congratulations on that excellent score!

I couldn’t decide TBH. I received a lot of watches this year that fit today’s theme - A 6309-7040 Suwa Dial, 7548-7000 that Spencer Klein once owned, a Birth Year 6139-6002 acquired from my friend Tom. Taking a guess I’d say I purchased somewhere around 25 watches in 2018? So instead I went in a different direction- a watch that is truly one of a kind with special meaning... The One Off build gifted to me by my pal David.

Not necessarily my favorite, but this is definitely my favorite acquisition this year (of the whopping two watches I bought this year).

This isn't a 2018 purchase although after waiting several months I got it back from service at Archer's this past Feb. when a few bits and bobs were replaced, a new crown added and some bugs sorted resulting in it running better than ever. This would be my favorite although it sees a lot of down time so I don't bugger it up. It just fits so well the way it holds the wrist. It has been to the Mediterranean a couple of times and as far north as Fairbanks on our Alaska tour/cruise. For some reason the hands on some of these Watchco ones are off from the dial colour. On the first service several years ago Al relumed them with super luminova to a very close match, the camera still accents it some. It still glows all night.

Today's Seiko golf tip of the day: in the rough, swing the club more steeply to hit the ball as cleanly as possible.
