Never understood those who collect booze. Maybe it is "valuable" but surely only while it's drinkable? If you wait too long it will get undrinkable and will have lost its perceived value, right? So just go ahead and drink it! My dad did this. Had a bottle of some sort of red wine. Well old. Always refused to drink it "too valuable!" Until one day he went to his wine rack and saw the cork had failed and what was sleeping out was thick and sticky. Ha! Served him right!

Hi. Bottled here from American Distillery strength whiskey in huge plastic containers. Can’t see the value from a drinkers point of view only rarity. Surprised anyone would have kept a bottle. Cheers Phil

Cheers Phil Yup, I think it has more to do with the short time that this label/distilery company existed (1 year apparently) than the quality of the burbon, although I must say the burbon is excellent . It is more luck than any planning on my dads behalf that the bottle is in there, he wasn't much of a drinker himself but did like to keep a fully stocked booze cabinet for when visitors arrived. This bottle came from that above mentioned drinks cabinet. I was visiting my mother last week and asked if there were any bottles still left in the drinks cabinet - mum said "take what you want" .. So I did. I helped myself to a bottle of Wild Turkey, and this bottle of Sherman T Cooper bourbon.

Actually it was pip, and with a good kick too. And that Sir settles the argument. Two months before I got married my dad died which prompted me to rethink my reluctance to open some nice wine I’d bought over the years. I invited a friend down and we had some beautiful steaks with a couple of £500 reds followed by a £300 bottle of port and sundry other lovelies, the rule being a £100 minimum tag. My god it was a great night that I’m sure I’ll not repeat. And sooooooo worth it.

Wine, beer and hard liquor cannot be serviced and once it has gone bad, it' just chemical waste in a fancy bottle. Drink those things; no matter what the price tag 7dfe79adc2f0

Well I can't put the cork back into the bottle now, so this bourbon WILL be consumed. I was suprised though at the price this fetched, and I still can't help but think that could have sold this bottle of booze and purchased another watch.

What a choice to have to make...one or several glasses of fine bourbon or a new watch. I'm guessing that by the second glass you will be thinking that drinking this bottle is the best choice you ever made...next morning, not so much

Vintage booze, real vintage. From what I read here, people pay top $$$ with full intent to drink - because that is why it exists! Same for watches. Screw the concept of a safe queen. Don't wear it? You deny its reason to exist.

If you don't own a $500 bottle you won't accidentally open it.

Yup agree - this was just one of those silly circustances when a bottle of bourbon ( purchased as just a standard bottle of bourbon) was left untouched for 30 odd years in a liquor / sprits cabinet owned by my farther, a man who was not much a drinker. Just thought I'd talk about it with the guys here because I never thought I'd be in a postion like this .

Drink it, enjoy it, remember your Dad and raise a glass to him each time you pour a glass.
