Hi everyone, I've been looking to pick up a bellmatic. I see that there is 4005 (date-only model) which isn't very common and there is 4006 (day-date model) which makes up most of the bellmatics listed on forums/ebay.
I've read that it can be a bit of pain to set the day for the 4006 (wind between 9pm and 3am). On the other hand, 4006 models are more easily available, many designs to choose from and prices are more accessible.
I'm curious about your opinions to choose one over the other.
Thanks!

I have a 4005 that I don’t wear as often as I should. I typically like no day and no date if it is available, so the 4005 is the better fit for me. There aren’t nearly as many dial variations for the 4005, while there is an amazing variety with the 4006. There are some good resources on the net for the bellmatics. I’m no expert, though you might have noticed that the 4005 was an earlier model, and higher jewelled than some of the later 4006 pieces. Regards, Ross

Thanks Ross for sharing your thoughts and the suggestions.
There are so many design for the 4006 to choose from. But I think I'll be happy with the 4005 too.
Wristsushi is my first stop for vintage Seiko advice, but I will look around for the other sites you mentioned.
Btw, that's a nice looking 4005 that you have!
