A nice collection of Chinese watches you have, all mine are recent models there don't seem to be many old Chinese models on the bay. I never seem to see any SEA-GULL branded watches, only other brands like Alpha with seagull movements, have they gone out of making complete watches? Sea-Gull is still one of the big 3 manufacturers in China. Stay tuned; I have several more Sea-Gull watches to post in this thread

Yes I found that site yesterday, they have a good range of models, must be their surveillance and destruction of fakes that keeps their profile on the bay low.

Yes I found that site yesterday, they have a good range of models, must be their surveillance and destruction of fakes that keeps their profile on the bay low. Sea-Gull's main business is manufacturing watch movements. Complete watch is just a side business they use to feature various movements. They may have produced some fakes in the distant past but the Chinese government soon dissuaded them of that practice. Once their watches began selling outside of China, they took/take great care to ensure legitimacy. All the fakes you see out there today may have Sea-Gull movements in them but the watches are assembled by unscrupulous assemblers. Genuine Sea-Gull watches are well made, robust, reliable and compared to some Japanese watches; very accurate. When I think of fake Sea-Gulls I am reminded that there are seedy assemblers who put together Sea-Gull look-a-like watches with dirt cheap movements from other factories. Yep, the ones who used to make knock-offs are now being knocked off

Here is one modern Chinese watch. It's a San Martin which is, I understand, made in China. It has a Sea-Gull ST2130 movement inside. I understand that this movement is a drop-in replacement for the 2824-2, But I really can't say. Nice watch. Killer lume, as good as any SKX I have ever had, maybe a little bit better than some. I'm not impressed with the hand-winding, but that can be an issue with the 2824 also.

The Sea-Gull is actually a bit more modern and they improved a couple of things to improve the manufacturing process.
I had an LE Sea-Gull Dragon King with this movement that I traded to Phil...
I really don't know why I traded it because all the watches I got in exchange have since gone to new homes

Yeah Pete. I still have it. Thought the stuff you got was ok. Cheers Phil It was Phil; particularly the OM. I still have the Yema, Citizen and Tissot. Saul wanted the OM more than I was getting use out of it so we traded for a really nice 7002-700a(which as it turns out, I don't waer any more than the OM). Trading is just part of the hobby and we always have some regrets. Enjoy the Dragon King as I seldom wore it; perhaps a little large on my wrist.

The problem I have with Chinese watches is that no matter how many times I look at the time I'm always hungry again in an hour.

A note of interest; before the watches were labelled Sea-Gull, they were sold as DongFeng like this one... These had they ST5 movement like the Sea-Gull but were undecorated. Prior to being designated Dong Feng, the originals from 1955 were named WuYi.

I like the look of this one Pete. I imagine it would look good on one of those tri-color Nato straps.

Hey Pete, are there any vintage Chinese diver style watches? I know there are modern day Chinese dive watches galore, but I'm curious if there are any vintage.
