Found a gem today at an antique store. It's a mint condition Seiko A239-502A World Time from 1979. It's never been worn and came with the original plastic box and papers It came with the original plastic clam shell case: Clasp instructions sticker! Check the Japanese text inside the battery cover! Can anyone translate? It's truly a thing of beauty having something that looks exactly like it did the day it was made 40 years ago. Not sure what I'm going to do with it though. I buy to wear, and if I wear it, it's worth less, and that makes me cringe. Also, while I love this model and have a special attraction to World Timers, the Seiko M158-5000 Pan Am is the one I really covet. This one is a birth year watch though, π€

Awesome find! Personally, I always thought these were cooler than the M158s because of the dual-layer LCD panels with the map overlay. They are a higher tech watch than the M158 for sure.
If I were you, I'd wear it...gently. Maybe wear it to the office, or out to dinner. But obviously not when painting the house or working on the car. I have a couple nice ones that I have had for years, and I could probably only get what I paid for them or slightly more today. If they aren't worth a fortune after 40 years then they probably never will be.
Enjoy it.

Love it! I too have this model (and the PanAm) - this one is a different type of cool, but not less that the PanAm. Wear it in good health and keep it in good condition

Wowza what a gem !
Mr Jones and his collection got me exploring these early digitals. They have a serious charm to them. So well executed that has stood the test of time.
Congrats !!

Thatβs an absolute beauty! Wear it occasionally and carefully, and admire the hell out of it.

You need at least one. 7dfe79adc2f0 The best part about them is sitting with one in the dark, pressing a button or the crown, and seeing that tiny, tiny, tiny, TINY incandescent light bulb illuminate the display.
