The honeymoon is over! My initial enthusiasm for the 7548 has waned big time with constant wearing. The problem is whenever I check the time, initially I don't see the seconds hand move for a second or so...I know this is a psychological condition but it still bugs me. The other thing is that since it is an old watch, the lume is pretty bad(probably good for 30 minutes if I'm lucky). I'm not knocking the watch or the movement; it keeps astoundingly accurate time. It's just that no matter how hard I try to imagine it's soul, I come up cold empty So, it's back to the old standard of things I know and love...

I totally get how the quick glance at the second hand that seems to be stopped can bug you. It always bugged me probably the single biggest reason why I sold all of mine.

Oh hell, I have that happen on autos too. Just have to be looking at it at just the right instant. Need to let it go. The 7548-700x is a wonderful platform. It's what taught me to enjoy analog quartz watches again.

But what about when I wake up in the night and and need to check the time? Will it last through the night?

This is a brain thing- canβt remember what itβs called but basically your brain freezes time when you glance at something, iirc its to give another part of your brain time to process it or something.

Which makes so much sense because it's like at first glance the sweeper doesn't move for what seems like 2 seconds, then it kicks into 1 second intervals. An optical illusion for sure.

Simple solution is to get yourself a spring drive! π I would prefer to find a 5s21 movement and have Spencer transplant it into a slim case diver.
