That's a nice watch. How do you like the strap? Great strap like all the new Seiko rubber. But too long, so I threw on a Uncle Seiko tropic. I’m tempted to go bracelet tho.

Gimme one with an orange dial and an SBBN015-style bracelet. Keep the goldtone hands and accents that Seiko seems to believe all orange dive watches need. Then tell me where to send my money.

Yes sir, it was. It had a rather complex titanium clasp with a ratcheting dive extension on it...borrowed from the SBDX001, I believe. They can keep that clasp as well.
I assume these lugs are 22mm?

Just a thought....
I bet uncle Seikos's 22/18 straight end link oyster would take a MM300 clasp. I may give that a go.

Back light doesn't operate in stop watch mode. I think Seiko missed on that little spec.
I don't know how the original Arnie operated, but with this one all function buttons screw down. Meaning to quickly use the back light or to go into dual time or stop watch, etc, you need to unscrew the button. From a G shock perspective, much less functional.

The small, difficult-to-operate buttons were certainly a deficiency in the original H558's design. But I feel like Seiko over-corrected this fault with the gigantic, screw down buttons on the ArSol. I get that they are supposed to create symmetry with the crown, but...
Honestly, I think you were only meant to screw the buttons down when diving. Keep them unlocked for normal use?
One interesting feature about the buttons on the H558 is that they were meant to be used underwater. Says so right in the manual. They had two pusher gaskets on them.

The current manual clearly states the buttons are not operational underwater

Some feedback having worn for a week now....
Very comfortable. Great looking.
Alarm/Chime/Signal is very week in volume.
Back light not working for stopwatch is baffling to me.
Bezel has a "cheaper" feel then I expected, and compared to some of my other <$500 seiko divers feels of lesser build quality.
Buttons are smooth and very responsive.
Have not seen or heard of any chapter ring alignment issues.

EDIT: Instead of clicking my link, I searched for it on Macy's site and it's still there.

earthphase the light never worked in stopwatch mode on the original h558. #keepingitoriginal My only criticism is the alarm tone. All the previous h series have a dual tone alarm. It’s actually quite cool. I’m a bit bummed that it’s reverted to a standard alarm tone.

earthphase the light never worked in stopwatch mode on the original h558. I see your point, but improvements can be allowed To enable the light function on the stopwatch you would need to add a 3rd push button. Can you imagine a reissue that looked different aesthetically? If you want a stop watch with a backlight the completely digital shrouded Seiko diver would probably meet those requirements.

That's a nice watch. How do you like the strap? I picked up a few spare parts straps. Super comfy and looks like a GL831. Cool vintage metal keeper. All around winner .

Seiko's USA website lists all three models as 'sold out'. Looks like the pre-release run of these watches is already gone.
