Retro? I can do that. All amazing watches in here but I'm absolutely loving that dial!

6139-6005 dated Jan. of â72 With a date of '72, it shouldn't have a Resist dial AFAIK! It was acquired from a trusted member of this forum so? Iâve never looked at the backside of the dial to compare numbers to caseback. Mind you this example is from Jan. â72 and my understanding is that Seiko didnât phase out the Water 70m Resist dials until the later part of â72. One source claims: After this time, the markings changed to âWater 70M Resistâ. This shift was due to a law passed in 1968 that required manufacturers to change the markings on the watches they produce to water resistant. The change across all manufacturers was not instantaneous. Seiko started employing this from 1970 and finished changing the markings in most of their models by 1971. Sometime during the latter part of 1972, the company also removed the marking stating âWater 70M Resistâ but retained the marking âWater Resistantâ on the case back. Iâll add that WE should be careful throwing words out like âShouldnâtâ or âNeverâ when pertaining to Seiko. This is also something that might have been a bit more constructive discussed via PM and not on a WRUW thread. Kinda tasteless imo.

I tried to hedge it with the AFAIK. Was more looking for info than to be a dick and bag on the watch.
Apologies offered and OP will be deleted.

None taken and appreciate your reply. Itâs hard to read âtoneâ in text format. Weâve had plenty of discussions in the past and you know I hold you in high regard. Cheers.

Today's Seiko golf tip of the day: the tiger striped markings of the mackerel tabby are directly inherited from wild cats and originally served as camouflage.
Wonder what's in the box in the background
