Finally took the plunge on a watch which has been on my want list from day one. Prices kept climbing, it's gotten more and more out of reach of a sensible purchase. As my tastes change and watch numbers grow, and most of them lay in their slots in watch cases, drawers, shelves, nightstands, I've decided to see what the fascination was all about and reignite the fire a bit. I've never seen one, or held one in the metal. I've gotten a Dagaz typhoon to scratch the itch, but I knew that wasn't it. It all changed last week. I thought I'd put in a bid which was not ridiculous, one final, fair bid, without watching and getting in a bidding war. I thought it was a decent specimen, with all the signs of originality and no apparent abuse or moisture ingress. It arrived today. Exceeded my expectations. Started running as soon as I picked it up. I set the time, date, locked the crown, buffed it with my t-shirt and on the wrist it went for an initial meet and greet and acclimatisation. I love It! Uncle Seiko just notified me that the rubber strap just shipped. Circle is now complete.. Here it is. Rob

Congratulations Rob, that one looks great! Good for you on landing a nice vintage and while the prices have risen of late, I think it's money well spent and considerably cheaper than the re-issue.

What a beauty of a dial and hand set, short seconds hand too ! Last few gambles I've been lucky . I paid a tad over a grand, which I think is ok as I was seeing nice pieces go for about $1800 and not so great ones for almost $900. Done for the year. Rob

Congrats Rob - very cool!! Thanks, I've been watching the prices go up and up over the better part of last decade. The reissue jacked them up even more. Thought to myself- now is the time! Rob

Rob I paid $840 for my all original 1970 proof/proof no band which needs a full service and the dial and hands relumed.
I think you got a fantastic all original turn key piece for that money especially with the nice lume and original strap. Great score. Enjoy it.

I really assumed that I would eventually get a basket case and you would work your relume/ dial-hands refurbish magic. Got a much better example than I had hoped for. Waiting for a Uncle rubber which I ordered right after I won the auction. What's the deal with the flat vent? 0bviously notched 22mm, seems old, like the GL's and the XGL flats. Got the old rubber shine to it. Rob

I am guessing a release just before the Z22 flat vent but not too sure. Think they are the same length as a gl831 as far as I remember.

Hubba Hubba Great catch...The prices remind me of looking at some cars over time. When I was looking at '83-'83 911's in the late 90's early 00's I though man those are some high prices...hindsight's 20/20. Nice looking watch seems like you did well...

Do they have a lot? On street?
Thanks!
