Hi forum I just bought this and want to share some of the pics from the seller. Its been polished a lot I think but will see when it arrives. I think and hope the dial is as crisp as it looks but always a chance before it goes under the magnifying eye. It's been serviced, refurbished and put away according to seller. I will share more when I collect

Beautiful watch!! Definitely on my wish list. I don’t know much about authenticating these but forum members here will chime in I’m sure. Looks amazing to me Congrats on the purchase!! All the best!

unfortunately that is an AM dial and the watch is likely to be full of AM parts.

Hi Monaco.. how can you tell its an AM dial? And thanks😀 I think the telltale giveaway is that the minute markers on the sub-dial don’t fully extend to the edge of the sub-dial. That and the fonts would be slightly different on the AM dials - usually thicker and spaced differently from the original.

I wouldn't sweat the dial too much. Yes, it is probably aftermarket. But it is one of the better ones. Many aftermarket dials from even five years ago look like they were made by a junior high school art student.
It is a great looking watch.

Makes them much harder to spot and thus sellers are getting away with marketing them as originals.

Thx monaco nice to know you've seen the listing before. I am strongly considering not following through with the deal... I know its bad manners but I can't enjoy a AM dial. Sorry Cobrajet!!! im new and must learn all over... Im off fleabay for watch purchases from this instance on. How do you all feel about this matter? I guess most of us have tried to be bedazzled or mislead in a bay listing? Should I man up and pay even though I feel its not right? or should I just do what is best for my wallet?

This all brings up a point that needs to be made once in a while: Ask for guidance before you commit to spending your money. A post in the Seiko or Feiko thread will bring answers in good time.

I guess most of us have tried to be bedazzled or mislead in a bay listing? Should I man up and pay even though I feel its not right? or should I just do what is best for my wallet? We have all been there. I have also seen this listing before and the case has been polished hard. If you don't want it then just ask for it to be cancelled. They would rather relist than mess around and risk bad feedback. Anytime you hear claims of servicing then ask for proof and by whom, even an email something. No watchmaker is going to replace a dial and bezel with aftermarket without instruction or permission. Words like "restored" and "refurbished" should be red flags. And don't fall for "found in a drawer" and "in my possession for 20 years" blah blah. My philosophy is that I can live with mechanical problems because a £100-250 service will sort it, but you can't easily and cheaply replace a dial, bezels, etc.

Too high for what it is. You can expect to pay that and maybe more for a good silver dial.

Pulling the plug on the deal is exactly what I would do...feedback be damned. I didn't know that was still an option for you. GBP500 is too much for that watch.
Just so you know, you should be very suspicious of anyone advertising a silver-dialed 6139-6002 from 1977. It should be in the '70-'74 range for the silver ones, based on what I have seen.
I only have one, and I think it dates to 1972.

Sold as "second chance offer" to another bidder😁.. of the hookand lesson learned. Guess I have to control myself in keeping my seiko urge in line.. I get clouded in my decisions when I want something. So enough from me on this silver "SAM", seikoAM or what to call it.☺️ Thx again everyone

Buying vintage Seikos on eBay are a bit of a minefield, there are far fewer good ones than ones loaded with AM parts. There are also fake modern Seikos as well. You can always check out the Buy/Sell/Trade posts here.
