Im going to check this 6005 notched out in person next week! Here is the thing..its an 72'! 🙄 I hope the caseback was swapped sometime during service. It was supposedly owned by a brother in law from ca 88'- recently.

Im thinking if the dial is as clean, as I think it looks and a notched case. If the price is right then it's ago😊

It's a parts drawer cobble jobber.
Bezel from a watch after 1972
Seconds hand either AM or new stock.
I'd bet doughnuts to dollars the guy swapped in his lousiest spare inner rotating ring to grab its good one to drop into some other watch. It doesn't seem consistent.
Wanna lay odds the ring doesn't rotate with the crown because he lifted the gear and spring ?
You can get one this sort of shape all day long. I wouldn't bother going to see it.
And his brother in law was a butcher.

It's pieced together from more then 1 watch.
6005 never had a notched case.
If it was an early 6009 "Resist" with a notched case it would have a 2 piece second hand and an "A" movement.
My guess would be that the later 72' guts + case back for a 6005 were used in an earlier notched case. If it's a "B" movement, that's most likely what transpired.

Thanks that pretty much sums it up😊. I love to learn and you explain it perfect. Thx again

As others have said, that one is a mess. And the story is bullshit.

After 72 is where the hash mark appeared.

According to the research, albeit limited, that Spencer and I did back in 2016, the 'hash mark' was added to the bezel quite late in production. I want to say 1976 or 1977? Up until then, no bezels had the mark. No big deal, but if you have an earlier watch with the hash mark it just means the bezel has been replaced. Of the 6139-600x watches I own, this is how they break down:
6009-7/69-No mark
6009-3/70-No mark
6009-3/70-No mark
6001-12/70-No mark
6002-7/71-No mark
6005-2/72-No mark
6005-4/72-No mark
6005-6/72-No mark
6005-11/72-No mark
6005-12/72-No mark
6005-3/73-No mark
6005-6/73-No mark
6005-8/73-No mark
6002-3/74-No mark
6002-4/74-No mark
6005-6/74-No mark
6005-6/75-No mark
6005-6/75-No mark
6002-9/75-No mark
6005-1/76-No mark
6005-5/77-Mark
6005-2/78-Mark
6005-5/78-Mark

My research also indicates the box under the 60 min mark on the bezel came into play roughly in 76'.
Until recently, there were no aftermarket bezels with the box but now some do have it.
