I just did a gnarly full service on a somewhat abused Hamilton chronograph, powered by a Valjoux 7736. It had suffered a failed crown seal, which had in turn doomed the keyless works. Also, there's a dial foot screw right there and that was doomed as well. So, full clean & resurrection of a rusty keyless works, straight mechanical extraction of a broken-headed & rusted dial foot screw, and a full service on a movement that was dry and had flakes of rust all through it. FANTASTIC. Oh, also the button shafts were incorrect, so I had to machine down the existing screws to make room for the movement. Unreal. Oh and a new crystal. Anyway, what an elegant & lovely timepiece. These are fantastic.

While it's slightly small for my tastes, it's such a reserved and elegant design. The Valjoux movement is rugged and forgiving. It's just a great overall package. I'd love to have one. As usual, what kills is that these weren't expensive up until recently, but now they are apparently.

I believe I fell in love with one, as I was perusing Chris's collection, He had a killer Zodiac as well...

Great looking watch . . . lucky owner! Great result. I took this shot to show the owner how it had come out, and he decided to go for a relume. So, watch this space!
