Been in the since 2009 Don't feel too bad: If we had a shed, I'm sure I would've been banished to it by now as well. Well, it's really self banishment. My older daughter suffers from severe OCD and all the phobias that go along with that. So, to make life easier for her and my wife, I have semi-willingly allowed myself to be herded into spending my days in the shed. Over the last 10 years or so, I've actually come to like this setup. I am completely free to burp, fart or curse without offending anyone. The best part is my lunch and dinner are delivered to my desk? Well, not all good because one can get tired of nuts, twigs and tofu pretty fast
Seriously though, it's not all that bad until the outside temps drop below -5C...then my heaters can't keep up
Oh; I work on contract so it works out fine that I have an actual office for my tax write offs.

Ah, I understand now. My wife was recently diagnosed with Grave's Disease (a form of hyperthyroidism) and as a result she has been suffering from terrible mood swings for the last year or so, which is completely unlike her normal disposition. The doctor said it can take about two years for the anti-thyroid drugs to fully work, so there's been many times over the last few months when I wished I had a shed or something similar to escape to for the next two years haha. It also makes sense for you for the tax write offs. The father of my good friend has a similar set-up. He's a civil engineer who does roof design on contract-based work, so he's set up his own sole proprietorship and built a small office on the land behind his house (which is registered as a separate parcel from his home) so he can write off the "office space." His commute is a 50 foot walk lol.

Unfortunately the OCD thing just seems to consume a lot of money searching for cures since the regular medical industry does not have any answers or interest; if you won't take drugs, you are on your own
