A cheap Chinese model that can be delivered to you free for <$10. MIGHT last the evening if worn for a Halloween outing.

Let us know the results, if so inclined. It would be interesting to know the life expectancy of those Chinese lower-end models.

Well, here you have it. It arrived rather quickly, what do you think? I was hoping the white areas of the skull would glow, but no luck.

I posted it on Facebook, and my niece fell in love with it. Needless to say, it's packed up and on it's way to MI. I like it too, so I placed an order for a replacement.

It shouldn't be all that difficult because I can see the hour markers are printed on the underside of the crystal. That means you have a clear field to paint on the fresh lume without worrying about all that other stuff :-)

That means you have a clear field to paint on the fresh lume without worrying about all that other stuff :-) Perhaps I will, not sure I have a steady enough hand. I do some carving and painting and have a little experience with the steady hand syndrome. My painting always seems to stray outside the boundaries; but I have learned how to clean up the boo boos. On my painted wood carvings I have learned that it is a lot easier to clean up the slop afterwards rather than trying to get it perfect in the beginning. The end results are nearly always better. I'm pretty sure that doing lume on a watch dial would be similar and the results could be just a good. Practice is the thing that makes all the difference. I tried out my techniques on several samples before I ever touched the real piece. My hand is not very steady when trying to paint inside the numbers but I am deadly accurate with an exacto blade for removing the 'over flow' smiley-cool11 You won't know if you ca't do it unless yo try smiley-dance001

Cool . . . . perfect for those "ARGH MATEE" moments!
Too bad we didn't know about this when Chris was going through his pirate moments over on TOF. laugh1.gif

Might not want to greet the wee little "trick or treaters" wearing that, might scare them. (I recall a younger grandson being frightened when he saw my older grandson wearing his Darth Vader costume.)
