I'd really like to acquire a Shinola, I like the idea of being assembled in Detroit. What do you think, worth the asking price? Like any of the designs?

I like the idea, but not really fired up about the looks/price. This is the only one that interests me....

Smart looking pieces although I'm not too fussed on the lug design. That and they're all quartz powered. Does Eminen wear one?

I agree, the chrono is very attractive.

I'm seriously disappointed with you lot!
All this time and not one shit joke! OK . . . I'll go first!
These look nice and I can tell shit from shinola!
They seem a bit pricey for a quartz but then again if they are limited, then you're paying for that aspect.

The designs that hold any interest for me are all too big for my wrist.

I had until reading this, been exited to find a non-ETA watch, with a in-house movement.....it made me laugh... Shinola Detroit-built Argonite 5021 quartz movement, hand assembled from 84 Swiss-made components. So the watch is assembled in Detroit fro a collection of Swiss parts

Built from Swiss parts so it isn't an in-house movement?
Not a question about whether it's an in-house movement (just realized that it looked like that), merely pointing at what I thought Rod was finding humorous.

Built from Swiss parts so it isn't an in-house movement? Not a question about whether it's an in-house movement (just realized that it looked like that), merely pointing at what I thought Rod was finding humorous. Let me explain....My constant frustration with modern watches is that there is a distinct lack of originality and uniqueness amongst them. I was excited to see a manufacture that may have been offering an in house movement, with their own home spun slant, with wording like "making it right here in America" and "Detroit-built Argonite 1069 high-accuracy quartz" gave me hope and i started to look at the different models. Detroit needs all the help it can get and anything that brings industry to the city is a blessing. But after reading this, "46 piece quartz movement made with Swiss parts" I new is was all in vain, Ronda or ETA was the company behind the heart of the watch, a063 and as it turns out Ronda is the partner for Shinola.. The facts are that anyone can buy all the parts to build a watch, anything from a dive to a dress watch using quartz or mechanical movements. We see some of them advertised as unique "one of one hundred" watches on some watch sites and forums! So my opinion on these watches, not for me, but because they are sold in the US as a "unique" US made watch they will sell well to the home spun market.

I thought it was something like that. An American movement was exciting to me too. A modified Swiss quartz, not so much.
