This had been sitting waiting to be serviced for well over 5 years until I took pity on it this week. It couldn’t hold a trace on the timegrapher so was clearly in need of attention. And when I disassembled the dial side, guess what I found. Another broken setting lever spring… So, that’s me right out of spares - AGAIN. After servicing, the amplitude still sucks - around 180 at best - but at least it’s keeping good time. And I think the bezel has always been cracked as I found a post from back in 2018, sans picture sadly, where axb mentioned he might have a replacement if I was interested - I clearly didn’t respond to the offer 😆 7625-8233, June ‘68.

A third one from Friday's parcel... And keeping time since friday afternoon. 3 already working well, that's good news, as I'm no so lucky with other ones. The time sonar being the worst and an SKX011J having a damaged crown thread on the case, corosion on the crystal seal seat, f...d crown... And two SKX013 needing a service (my nephew will have to wait a bit for his SKX013). But enough grumbling, I like this 6318-8070, even if the case has been polished. On closer inspection, the dial looks original, but I don't know about the hands.

My loving and accepting Wife reluctantly allowed me to bring home a bookshelf for my service materials. With some patient negotiations and her masterful eye at arrangement of home furnishings I was able to keep the bookshelf and finally place my service books in a place I can get to them! Even better my workbench can now have tools better organized. I'm so happy!
Also new today on the wrist is one of TinkeringFR 's dealer's wares. Seems he's gotten me too

The first Japanese domestically produced automatic movement. Citizen Auto from 1958. Seiko's Automatic from 1956 had a Swiss movement, and it was the 1959 Gyro Marvel that had their first in-house movement. It's quite an unassuming looking watch, but I reckon it's a pretty important part of Japanese watchmaking history!

Wow, that's a nice collection of service books. I'm so happy to see you wearing my your SKXA53. A week ago it was sitting on my desk, and now it's on your wrist. It's a good thing you have it, as I was planning to get out my Dr. Frankenstein tools and make an SKXA35 from it with some original parts as peterr suggested.

And just to add, when I went to bed at 12pm it was pouring with rain and when I woke up my son was shouting "come and see all the snow daddy!". I thought he was pulling my leg, but still went to the window and couldn't believe my eyes...

trilo - I really dislike snow, sorry to see you having to go out in that!
leffemonster - how is it that you have so many broken setting lever springs?! I say you start making earrings out of them for Mrs Leffe and anyone else who might like a pair
TinkeringFR - I really wanted this dial pattern so I don't think I would be able to change it for something else. We'll see if I can make it any better than it is, but one thing I am am not is an artist. I wonder if I can send the dial to someone who can repair it properly?

I learned something and now have another one of your watches on my 'list' Apologies for keeping adding to your list😆 I've got a few Chrono Masters lined up for the next few days. I've been a bit Seiko heavy recently so am working my way through my 'fancy' Citizen box

Not many green watches today It's one of my favorite dial colors, but I was derailed by TinkeringFR's dealer Maybe I'll swap it out later this afternoon after I get the yard waste to the dump.
