I do like the finished product, quite handsome indeed.

I've only seen three "Mod'ed" 6105' I'd give house room. One by our own DSO211, the "Blue Beast" owed by Kingrat. And this one by Martin. Really thinking of getting my 6105 fitted with a trip-loc crown. I love it but it's not really a minty example (especially in the company of some on here) So the thought of having one I could actually dive with appeals.
And a "Kanji 6105" can never be wrong chinathumbsup.gif

Beautiful. If looking at that don't make you reach for the Kleenex, nothing will.

The only thing I do not like about this (and I do mean the only thing) is the lack of chapter ticks. I wonder if there was any rehaute from the 6105 era that is black painted with white minute indication that will fit a 6105-811x case?

The only thing I do not like about this (and I do mean the only thing) is the lack of chapter ticks. I wonder if there was any rehaute from the 6105 era that is black painted with white minute indication that will fit a 6105-811x case? Hi Saul, Believe me, I've given this particular problem a lot of thought but keep butting up against the seemingly unresolvable problem that in order to have an indexed chapter ring, you need to lock it to the dial (to prevent it rotating freely) but to do that you need a tab on the dial and a groove in the chapter ring, like on the 6309. The problem with the 6105 cases is that there is not sufficient clearance within the case to allow passage of a dial with the tab still present and so you have to remove the tab (I talk about this in the post on the blog). Having said all that it is possible to cobble a half-arsed solution by fitting a modified 6309 chapter ring from the crystal side with the movement in position but the ring is not quite the right dimensions and the crystal gasket does not then seat properly. I'd rather leave it as it is than resort to a cosmetic solution that compromises the engineering of the watch. Even if you could have a 1:1 chapter ring made with indexes, you still have the problem of how to lock it to the dial without resort to cobbling! Martin p.s. Nice forum by the way, and as this is my first post here, hello all!

Well Martin, you could always paint the ticks on the dial. laugh1.gif
