So I had a 'spare' 6309-7040 case and movement and thought I would try a snowflake mod to help cure me from my Tudor obsession...
The dial, hands, insert and chapter ring are from Jake The BubbleBoy crystal from Jonathan
I am still trying to convince myself that it works...
what do you think?

To be completely honest, I think the case is to big for this dial/hand combo, something slimmer with a 3 o clock crown would work well.

Yeah, the gold is the bit I'm struggling with too, although it may grow on me. The 6105 bezel adds a great retro look to the cushion case of the 7040 I combined those two with a bubble boy on this one, which I think works perfectly:

I agree.... the 6105 bezel and the BB work perfectly on that 6309. I am a HUGE fan of the BB

Sorry the snowflake doesn't do it for me. Not keen on that type of handset. embarrassed-smiley-face
But on the other hand, that second one................... a194

I concur, not a fan of the snowflake hands with that combination.

I think it kinda works. The gold outline on the snowflake hands gives it an intentional two tone look, and matches the vintage Tudor gilt dial.
So to me, it satisfies a little Tudor envy quite well.
I have a nice Tudor myself that I wear more for the Rolex Oyster bracelet than the watch itself.

Well I am completely OK with the dial, snowflake hands, Bubbleboy and dial ring, not so hot on the Nato or bezel insert as I do not think they match the brown and gold.
Also as previously mentioned the case may not suit the aesthetic of the dial/hands, but having said that I prefer the large case 6309,s in general.
Here's my narrow case one. I went the whole BB hog with the red insert and brown strap.
Just my opinion, as asked for.

Just my opinion, as asked for. Interesting... I did consider the red insert, but decided that it would be 'too much' - but as I can see from your pic here, it actually brings the look of the whole watch together - maybe I'll try a red insert - or perhaps I should just sell-up and buy the Tudor! Genuine thanks for the opinions Guys - I have actually been quite pleased to get some genuine opinions even though they have not been all that positive!

I reckon the insert is what detracts Funkster, it doesn't have to be the solid red version but one without silver and some red would tie it all in much better.

Nice job Funkster! I love it, but agree as to the insert. The red would be the natural choice, but you could also go with black with gold numbers, or the black with red triangle Broadman insert. Jake has em all. Nice as is, though. Cheers.

Sorry fellows, but snowflake hands do nothing at all for me. But I loved the dial and insert on the OP's watch.

Then again if this is a toss up between this mod and a 94010 I think you know yourself which I'd go with;-)

I like it apart from that hour hand which I think is hideous Don't pull your punches mate! So it seems the universal opinion is that this mod is not quite right... I have to agree... I'll take a look at the insert options - mike, your BB tribute encourages me to keep trying with this one... watch this space...

C'mon Funkster, make your own mind up! I have to say that I don't like the 'snowflake' hands - why are they called that? Seems to me they are far from the delicate and light crystals that they are named after.
