I purchased a new Sumo. I believe there to be case work problems. I am traveling currently having a difficult time posting.

Here is a link to a pic I posted on the other forum. I thought I had included it in my first post in this thread, but like I said, I am having connectivity and iPad problems.
Should I send it back to Katsu or am I too picky?

That is a link to SCWF's home page, so no sense in having it in there. Just email me the pic, and I'll post it for you.

Here is your pic...What is your concern? I think the OP is referring to the slight variation of the lug finishing/size? If so, yep, a tad picky bro. But, you gota wear it. Will it bother you? I guess if your posting & asking it is. Would it bother me? Nope, be to busy laughing & dancing coz I got one hell of a watch thunbsup.gif

that would annoy me - I presume it's not a cheap watch? I'd ask for a replacement.

This is definitely a deja vu moment . . . I've got the same minuscule irregularity with mine and it causes me not one jot of concern, but as some suggested on SCWF, if it bugs you so badly, send the bloody thing back to what-his-face . . . problem being is that the new one will likely suffer from the same flaw due to the machining setup being incrementally out of alignment as correctly opined by Jonathon . . . I'm just stoked that all my markers, insert and hands are bang on, and it is the most aesthetically pleasing piece I own without a doubt, but it's certainly a model that has been beset by problems it would seem. SwedeFreak also posted these pics on SCWF to precisely highlight what we're discussing here, both of the OP's watch and mine . . . make up your own minds.

Are we talking about splitting hairs? That would be good ole fashioned production variances....very normal occurrence with low to mid range watches. Not very brand specific either.
if this would've been a MM300 I would agree that Seiko could do better but on a $500 high production run Sumo I would say that the irregularities in the lug finishing is within range.
basically speaking the OP has two choices.... Return or sell the watch Option 2 would be to just take things in stride and live with the irregularity knowing that most likely no one else will ever notice the difference.

You would expect better milling or machining for a JDM Seiko , i guess in mass produced watches it happens .

Mine looks similar but my 51 year old eyes never noticed so it won't bother me.
If it sticks in your craw, send it back but I wouldn't expect the replacement to be better. I don't think Sumos are hand made watches so I don't think perfection is a realistic expectation.

Got to be honest guys, more I look, more I think it's "storm-in-a-teacup" Still think the Sumo's one of the best bang-for-your-buck watches on the market.

If your date is centered, hands are aligned, chapter ring aligned and it runs well, I personally would keep it. A whisker difference in finishing is the least of all the potential evils. toss it back in the lake and who knows what you'll get in return.
But I'm not you, so .....

Better connectivity at the airport! I can post now!
Anyhow, I have decided to keep it as is. Thanks for all the advice.
