Plum vodka! That will lay you out! NICE! I'm a vodka drinker now (beer has too many calories for my old man metabolism) and at 63% alcohol (not sure if they use the same "proof" system as the US but I THINK that would be 120 proof!
Plum flavor sounds really good!

Yep, 63% ABV. I’ve had other variants in Poland at 70% ABV. It’s damn good stuff!

"But officer . . . . I only had one drink". LOL!!!!

Fresh from the resupply
Just had to try this one out... This is a Farmhouse Session Ale form Denmark. It is a sort of collaboration between Amager and and Oklahoma Craft Brewery named Prairie. I 24 of these 1/2 liter bottles with an ABV of 7.5%! The beer is a nicely hopped drink that goes down easy.
This is the other beer in the haul... This one is a Danish Black IPA from my favourite brewery...HornBeer I have not actually had this one yet and will wait until I don't have o drive anywhere since it comes in at 9.3% ABV
Not a bad b'day gift at all
My older brother dropped by a little while ago and left me a 2 liter bottle of his excellent Pinot Noir wine so I should be good for alcohol for at least a week

Alrighty then! I got to sample the Hophorn and am suitably impressed...
This batch is one year older than it's 'best before' date and is wonderful. With it's 9.5% ABV content, it wasn't likely to go bad My benefactor told me that when it was fresh, it had a good hoppiness to it. Time has mellowed that and it is now very close to one of the best porter beers I've had. The brew pours nearly black and has a really good mouth feel, like a robust porter. There is still a little hoppiness that comes through but I
think of it as a perfect blend.
My posts may become a little erratic for a bit

I think my body is telling me it needs a break from spirits so I’m getting round to sampling some of the Belgian beers from my Beerwulf packs. Tonight’s choice for me - And for Mrs Leffe -

This evening’s chosen offering. This glass is the first one I added to my ‘collection’ (well, it wasn’t really a collection then, was it?) and was swiped from a bar in Bruges, where Straffe Hendrik is brewed. From memory I hid it behind a bush while we continued visiting the various bars 🤣 I think that was some time in the mid ‘90s. Obviously the beer has undergone a rebranding since then comparing the logos on the label and glass.

You have really good taste in beer Last Friday my beer drinking buddies had a beginning of summer Stout tasting party in the back yard of our friend and importer. Six of us brought a stout or porter in a brown bag and our importer friend paired it with one of his imports by type and ABV. Unfortunately I could not find either of my favourite stouts so I thought that maybe this... Would match sort of loosely to the stouts. We saved this for last and our importer friend matched it with a Tripel from Kees. Well, to a man, everyone of them rated this the absolute best they had tasted all evening. I'm taking that with a grain of salt because by the time I opened this, we had sampled 12 different stouts/porters ranging in ABV from 6.8% right up to 16%. More than half were above 11%!!!. I'm surprised that many of us could even taste the Quad let along judge it best of the night. I am sampling this beverage right now and it tastes even better than it did on Friday night 7dfe79adc2f0 The sad part of this is that this brew is a one time thing in our province. Fortunately the lady who imported it brought in 42 palettes each with 144 750ml bottles(that might have been 144 palettes with 42 bottles each ). She got it into 162 government liquor stores and we don't know how many private stores so the supply should be good for a couple of weeks or until people discover it. I grabbed three bottles yesterday and will grab three more each time I visit the local store, until it is out of stock. As of yesterday and after I grabbed my 3 there was 21 left on the shelf. BTW, I've had the Tripel and it is a slightly more fruity beverage than the Quad but still excellent Drinking quality beer like this does not disturb anything other than my balance. Just have to stay away from the local commercial beers with preservatives, additives and unknown quantities of wheat in the brew.!

After a bottle of Timmermans Lambicus Blanche, which was a very tasty light, fruity lambic I’ve stepped it up a little and moved on to the Delirium Tremens.

The Tremens is a nice refreshing beverage but I prefer their darker Delirium Nocturnum They make a nice Red also.

I introduced some colleagues to it a couple of years ago when we were working in Brussels, and they got extremely drunk on it one night in the Delirium Cafe. I think they forgot it was 8%... I’m now sampling another very nice fruit beer - Petrus Aged Red. I thought it was about time I worked my way through the Beerwulf cases I’ve had for a couple of months!

A 70cl bottle never sees a third day, and I’ll often do a couple of those a week...

Had some of this at the end of the day at work tonight that #3 brought in.
It had a funky tang to it the first few swigs then had a funky after taste.
Not a fan but better than the Beck's that the owners seems to like and bring.

I was out in Pete's neck of the woods last week visiting friends on the Gulf Islands and then over to Squamish, BC where they have a craft brewery called Backcountry Brewing. I sampled some of their offerings but one that I particularly enjoyed was this limited run of IPA which like many microbrands, carries a rather cheeky name.

Also, I just happened to be sipping on this nectar at my buddy's place when we heard a noise and looked down from the balcony to see this guy roamin' around. imgur.com/0kDXKvYI've wanted to live in a van down by the river ever since I discovered the Tony Hillerman mystery novels about the Navajo Tribal police officer named 'Chee'.

For what it's worth, it gets a high score on Beer Advocate.
