I don't know about that . . . . . most of the Langunitas beers I drink are all north of 8.0. Some over 9.0.

I don't know about that . . . . . most of the Langunitas beers I drink are all north of 8.0. Some over 9.0. There are myriad micro breweries across Canada producing upward of 12% beverages. Some of the ones from Quebec are actually higher but only labelled at 11% due to taxing laws. Get above a certain point and it is taxed the same as fortified or hard liquor. I think the point of that video was about the mainstream brewers; ie Anheuser, Miller, Pabst, etc. vs Molson, Labatts, Carling, etc. where the Canadian brews are typically 1/2% to 1% stronger. That is rapidly changing though.

Will disagree on the Innis & Gunn. A favorite of mine, although I prefer the rum cask when I can find it. I don't buy it often, just a few times a year. The Velvet Merlin was interesting. Much darker, almost an Imperial Stout. Very meaty with interesting tones. Not surprised, rated very highly. www.ratebeer.com/beer/firestone-walker-velvet-merlin/130886/I'll get it again.

Today Chimay is an excellent brew. I haven't sampled the Grande reserve yet but have had the Extra Strong Ale at 9% and the Strong Ale at 7% The Extra Strong Ale was definitely a cut above. I imagine the Grande Reserve is even better 7dfe79adc2f0

Last night and tonight Price Chopper (the local supermarket that was selling Shiner) closed it's older, smaller store and opened a larger store right next door. They have a much bigger beer selection (which already was well represented in the craft beer department). Now they are carrying Brown's! Woot! Considered local as it's brewed up the road in Hoosick Falls. They also are carrying Shiner Bock AND their seasonal summer beer Ruby Redbird (which I'd like to try). Happy days are here

This and this last night and probably tonight, although I also have some  Bobby Mike, There's a micro in Chatham that's brewing excellent beer. They don't bottle, but you can buy it in growlers. Good stuff. I can't remember the name. Myles Doh! It's called Chatham Brewing Company. I picked up a growler a while back when I was in the area visiting family.

And now there are "limited edition" beer cans. (Give me a break, although I realize there are some beer-can collectors.)

Did you go to their new space, across from the bank on Main street or their prior space behind the movie theater? In fact, I'm drinking a Shiner Bock right now in my Chatham Brewery pint glass I picked up from them chathambrewing.com/

My family is full of drinkers (Irish), and I am sad to say that many of them have never had a porter. Its sad actually. Love me a porter!! Any good recommendations? Its so hard to find any here in Florida, light ales all over the place.

I can get it up here in Canada so it should be available in FL. There is also Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout. It's brewed in Fort Bragg CA.

My wife and I would gladly take you on a porter expedition in Columbia County, NY and over in Mass in the Berkshires. You will go home edumacated.
