Hello modders,
I was hoping I could find a little help with a constant problem of mine - marking up my dials.
I'm using "dial protectors" from Dagaz. They don't seem to be helping me. I've assumed it's my technique.
At the beginning, when removing hands, I would leave little marks by the center. I've since changed my hand-puller and that's improved considerably.
However, there are still rub marks, or slight "scratches" showing up on glossy dials (SNK809). Is it possible these are coming from the actual dial protector? The marks are no where near the center, and usually lie halfway into the dial.
Looking for some advice on both improving my technique and options for different protectors.
Thank you.

I use a piece of plastic... Just cover the dial and hands with plastic, and take of the hands with removers. (Pic is from the net)

Try the genuine dial protector from Bergeon. Also, make sure the bottoms of the "feet" of your hands remover are perfectly flat. You made need to touch them up with a sharpening stone, particularly if they're not made by a well-known tool house (such as Bergeon, etc.)
Beware Bergeon tools from eBay, particularly if they're being sold from the Far East. Do your homework and make sure what is being sold is genuine.

I'm guessing it's when I put the protector on that it scuffs the dial. The new hand remover tool I have is far better than the cheap one I had. www.ebay.com/itm/Watch-hand-remover-plunger-type-watchmakers-tool-repair-/321314130887?pt=UK_Jewellery_Watches_WatchAccessories_SpareParts_SM&hash=item4acfd08bc7

I don't use it much, but sprung for one of THESE Bergeon Presto's. I have the $1.50 Chinese equivalent(knock off). It works perfectly. I made a dial protector out of a plastic bag; just cut a circle big enough to cover the dial, cut a slot half way through and voila. Haven't damaged a dial yet.

I use a Burgeon dial protector too but do not fit it fully on so the center hole is around the center of the hands. Tried Presto pullers but prefer to use the lever type for control and finesse and have never marked a dial...yet:-).

I'm pushing the protector all the way on so the hole is centered. I think I will switch all together to plastic bags like Penguinbce and Tentotwo.
