Is there a way to mod hand holes to fit smaller posts?
I just made the error in purchasing hands that are:
Hour: 150 (1.50mm)
Minute: 100 (1.00mm)
Seconds: 17 (0.17mm)
Of course, I want to try and fit these on a Seiko:
H:150, M:90, S:20
I'm guessing this is futile...

The minute hand can probably be made to fit. I had a Mk. II minute hand that was a loose fit. My watchmaker at the time closed it slightly to make it fit better. I asked him what he used and he answered "special tool". He didn't speak much English, and I don't speak Cantonese. I'm pretty sure he used a closing punch of some description.
The seconds hand will need to be broached. Take care, as widening the tube too much will result in it being pulled from the hand.
Good luck!

My other thought is to attached (cement/solder) the hand to an old Seiko hand and snap off the old hand. I would need clearance for the second hand as the minute hand would be slightly taller than usual. Not very elegant, but McGyver would be proud.

Update: Problem averted. He has ETA sizes - and was able to swap them before mailing out - so I'll only have to play around with the second hand. For what it's worth, the information that I dug up regarding closing punches indicated they should be used as a last resort. Hmm... would that be before or after I epoxied them to old Seiko hands?
