So my collection is all Seiko. There are many others I love, but I only own Seikos.
Am I alone in this, or are there others out there?
Anyone used to be this way and find an escape?

Me too Dave, a little by accident, I love many other Brands but I have always spent the cash on other passions . . . but I am seriously looking at non Seiko marques at the moment, Halios, Helson, Heuer [thanks to that other well know enabler/facilitator Chich], Hamilton, jeez, so many beginning with 'H' . . . and my ultimate would still be an early model Speedy . . . but I guess the allure of Seiko is bang for the buck in all elements of consideration, depth of catalogue, aesthetic appeal, level of finish and quality of movement, bloody hard to beat if you ask me.

Me too, Dave. Since around 1974 Seiko is the only watch that I have worn. The funny thing is, I did not start collecting them until around 2005.

You and I have the same tastes dawg! If I strayed, the short list would be a vintage Heuer pasadena, a speedy, Tudor black bay, and maybe a Rollie GMT II.
Love the Helson version of the Ploprof too!
I think I'm stuck on Seiko because I am still finding models I love that I don't have. Just picked up this book on Seiko tool watches that traces the evolution of all the divers, landmasters, flightmasters, etc. there are a good ten to twelve must haves that I have never seen! The list and the lust is endless!

As a kid, my Uncle Jimmy used to bring Seikos back from the Orient. Talking about like 1972-1982. Me and my family were always Seiko folks! Started collecting in my 40s, after realizing that you could find all the old models I grew up with on the bay!

I've got dual loyalties but heavy on the Seiko. It's either Seiko or Omega, and I only own four Omegas, though lord knows I'd buy more if funding wasn't a barrier. There is a smattering of other brands - two Casios, a Timex, a Girard-Perregaux, etc.

I started serious watch ownership/collecting with a Seiko 5 Auto which was gifted by my late father. Nowadays I have Seikos, MKIIs, and Rolexes.

I didn't know Citizen bought Bulova. Thank you for the info.
Your collection is jaw dropper, my friend. Thank you for sharing . . .

I'm a dive watch collector only. And even though the vast majority of my collection are Seiko's, I cannot say that I'm a complete loyalist. Some citizen divers have made it to my collection and I would even consider other brands if they have the right details. By far though, Seiko has the best designs IMO.

My collection is Seiko heavy, but I'm very happy to mix it up with my Zenith, Dornbluth&Sohn, Sinn, DOXA, Omega, and Casio G-Shock.
I'm about done adding Seikos (just looking for a 6105 upgrade and a black horse), but over the years I'll probably add a JLC Memovox, a Heuer Autavia, a Zenith a386, a Rolex 1665, an Omega Seamaster 300, and maybe an Asaoka or a Habring2.

I appear to be a Seiko loyalist, perhaps even a Seiko Snob laugh1.gif
My small collection is mainly vintage dress autos, and there is such a huge choice of styles available, it'll take me a long time to get them all ! I suppose if money were no object something a bit more exotic might find it's way to me, but so far Seiko offers so much for not much, and I've yet to find anything made by anyone else that I really like enough to even consider buying it.

It's mainly Seiko's for Polly, there has been the odd Citizen, Casio, Avia, Rotary, Pulsar etc but nothing too expensive. We like Seiko because of the value for money aspect a previously mentioned, but also being a tinkerer for availability of parts, ease of maintenance and availability of info'.

All Seiko here too.
I know nearly nothing about any other brands, and half the time watches that are 10 times the price of my Seikos look like crap to me.

It's mainly Seiko 7548 divers for me. Though I have a modern 5 Sports, an SKX009 and a chrono.
Then it's a cheap and cheerful Lorus, a G-shock and few other Casios.........and the Sub of course :-)
I don't have that many watches at all compared with most. And I buy what I like rather than being 'brand loyal'. But, that said, I have tended to like Seiko more than any other brand. Good quality at an affordable price :-)

Seiko only here. That's what my Dad turned me on to and to be honest, they give me all I need in a watch!

What's a 'black horse"? A black 6138-0040, nicknamed the Kuro Uma (黒馬)/black horse. The brown is Cha Uma (茶馬). The 6105's are "Uemura"s (植村) after explorer Naomi Uemura (植村 直己).

Seiko is fascinating to collect and repair and flip and surf forums like this because the diversity, and important for me, the in-house manufacture and the breadth of design from cheap quartz to not-cheap quartz (some of the best quartz movements ever made!) to lower end mechanicals to the very highest end of mechanical/autos (Grand Seiko, Credor, etc.).
That said, some of the Seikos are embarrassing to consider wearing in public in year 2013 (crazy squares, crazy color dials, way cheap knock-offs of Rolex, Patek, even Bulova and Tag Heuer). My sister in-law wears a Seiko "Lady Datejust" quartz that reeks, next to my actual Rolex Datejust I am actually embarrassed for her!).
So my Love for Seiko is real, but not blind.

I wouldn't say I'm a brand loyalist, but I certainly always had a brand focus. I'd love to expand into other brands, and hopefully that will happen soon.
