So I started browsing Ebay for Seikos this afternoon right after I came home from visiting my mom and my nieces. One of the first auctions at the top of the page had a blurry picture of a smallish-looking, blue-dialed dress Seiko on a black strap with a BIN of $29.99. I figured it would just be an older quartz watch, and probably not even worth the $29.99 asking price. I went to ignore it and move down the page, when a little voice inside my head said, "Have a look at it and make sure it is not a damned Grand Seiko or something."
It wasn't a GS, but was worth $29.99 all day long. Very, very rare caliber 5619 "Duo-Time"! I only see a couple of these a year...if that. I have one in NIB condition, but like all 56-series watches the plastic quickset gear has failed so the second time zone hand cannot be set. Seller says it is "missing it's outer bezel", but it doesn't look missing in the picture? Hope this one works 100%, but even if it doesn't I feel like I scored! jawdrop.gif

Definitely helps to know what you're looking at, nice score...I wouldn't have had a clue.

Definitely helps to know what you're looking at, nice score...I wouldn't have had a clue. They are so rarely seen I didn't even realize what it was at first, either. It is basically a Lord Matic with an extra, independently settable hour hand. I don't think Seiko sold many.

That's awesome, I'm looking forward to seeing it after a bit of tlc.

Nice catch Cobra - I had one of these before I moved to the dark side... On an original bracelet I think, sold it to a fellow collector: Stephen

Great eye - I would have passed it without a second glance even if I'd noticed the extra hand. What's the deal with this caliber?

Great eye - I would have passed it without a second glance even if I'd noticed the extra hand. What's the deal with this caliber? It's a good 'un! Beats at 21,600ph I think, and I believe it has hacking and hand winding, and a fine adjuster on the balance. So it's a quality movement, and it qualifies for 'rare'. And the second hour hand is very cool too. So it easily meets the 'collectable' criteria chinathumbsup.gif Stephen

It appears as if the crystal retaining ring might indeed be missing, from the watch in the OP.

It appears as if the crystal retaining ring might indeed be missing, from the watch in the OP. It does look like that - Hermann has one of these, for reference: Stephen

Nice score.
The second hour hand always reminded me of the Steve McQueen Explorer II.

Darn I missed it entirely ! I did see a DuoTime on the bay just last week but the price got out of hand quickly.
