Check this one out.
Yahoo Japan 6139-7012
Many, many years ago, a watch like this popped up on Ebay here in the States. It had Japanese inscriptions and serial numbers on the back like this one has. It was a 6139-7010, and had the Arabic dial. I posted pictures of it, and someone who read Japanese told us it read "JMSDF". We all came to the conclusion that it was an issued watch.
The relevant info that would normally be found on the outside of the caseback is found on the INSIDE, so this 6139 must have been made this way by Seiko to accommodate other inscriptions on the outside.
I know the pics are pretty poor. Can anyone read the inscription? For as much as the seller is asking, I wish to hell I had bought the one I saw back in the day! But $400 was obscene for a 6139 then.
This is only the second one of these I have seen in 10+ years (maybe third). Here is a link to the original SCF discussion about this watch...from 2004!
JMSDF 6139, 10/8/2004
And here is another later discussion:
JMSDF 6139, 6/15/2005
(Edit) Here is the seller's description, translated into English. Wow!
This is a USED goods, but it is very rare 6139 Chronograph . There are unfortunately spanner scratches on the back cover , but the mark of the Air Self-Defense Force and the No, contains the inscription of 47 046 , inside back cover contains the standard number and serial number of Seiko . The glass surface there is a small crack but , as the government-furnished equipment , which has been actually used in the Self-Defense Forces I think the beauty goods . Of domestic rare watches and military enthusiasts is to you recommended . Does not come out rarely is the Air Self-Defense Force specification of 6139 . Please enjoy customize the belt by the successful bidder because mounting width of the belt is 19 mm . I need your help by NC / NR.
