When about to wake up...somewhat drowsy, I heard a thud... knew something had fallen next to my bed... just lied there... until the news channel got so stupid that I decided to wake up... and there she was... my beautiful and trusty Orient Pepsi Mako... face down on the tile with its black and yellow NATO strap fully extended.... WOW!!!
I thought to myself, will have to get in touch with Island and get a new one... but no, upon examination the glass is ok, the blow did not hit the bezel and I checked the timing about an hour later with the atomic clock... so far, so good... it was as if the watch was hit by a soft summer breeze. Not any sign of damage.
I usually go to bed with a watch on but... maybe (this is my theory) it was tight and I undid it during the night and that is the reason for the whammo!!
I wonder how well other watches would have held up. The bed is the tall type, the floor is hard tile... your opinions please.
By the way, this watch has the most beautiful blue face you can ever encounter.

Without a doubt those G-Shocks are the torture champs... I would not put mine through that... I think in the Tube they have some punky kids that look high on meth even shooting at one... and I think it made it alive because they were so stoned that they could not aim properly... I think that in his make believe world one decided to give it the worst infraction a watch should endure, he swallowed one whole... he could not masticate it because of his bad teeth...do not know yet if it was returned to sender, or if it was processed properly and "delivered" or if it is still on its way to its destination. Of one thing we can be sure of is that if the delivery does not take too long it might still be keeping time and getting the atomic clock signals. We will see once it comes out... maybe even Chris Walken can make a film about it.

sometime you get lucky.
hey this week I happened to learn how orient makes that wonderful blue dial on the mako and others. they finish the surface of the dial with a brushed effect prior to painting. Then they apply the blue and gloss light enough to still see the brushing underneath.

That awesome dial, indeed, is an eye catcher! I have some 7548 Pepsi models such as 700B and 700F and they both have navy blue dials which are also fantastic tone of blue.
When it comes to the tone of blue and red, those red and blue colours on the inserts are also gorgeous.

Just happy to inform that the watch is timing ok...no noticeable variation after one day of the unfortunate accident... running like a champ.

If it had been a Seiko with either latest versions of the 7sxx or 4rxx you would likely have been dealing with looped hairspring and gaining many minutes to hours per day.

With some of the sh*t that goes on these days, there is seldom a need to "make anything up". JMHO.
