I notice a ton of threads are started here and then the exact duplicate thread over on SCWF aka TOF. To me, it's pick a forum to post your new thread and live with the one you chose. Same thing with For Sales - I pick one and don't duplicate (for the most part).
I see it this way: post here and there, get responses here and there, and there is no single place to consult. Plus many of us have the same ID here as we do over there - though I do not as I have separate ID names.
Anyone else have any opinion on this? I suppose the majority will think it is OK to dual post and get the most exposure. Will be interested to hear the results.

I have no problem with it because not everyone is on both forums.
As a real world aside example there are 3 coin clubs in town within a 10 mile radius.
I only belong to 1 club but some other members belong to 2 or even all 3.
While talking to another member a year or 2 ago he mentioned in the old days he felt you had to belong to "one or the other".

I think in a lot of cases it can be a good thing. If someone is sharing something, it helps people on both/all forums.

I welcome pretty much anything that produces content for either site.
For my own habits - I read and post on both, but start threads very infrequently - and only on one site AFAIR.

I personally think that one of the purposes of the forums is to share information, data, opinions and if one is doing it on one forum only, that's fine - however as mentioned above, the reach is limited to the members of that forum. If one is trying to do that, then it's fine. For some things it seems to me that it is a great thing to share with more people and more forums, that way the data, photos, opinion, etc. is actually reaching more people. Of course this means that the data be positive, interesting, entertaining, etc. Not talking about trolling of course. Same for the sales posts, if one is posting only in one forum, then he only give the option to buy that watch to members of that forum only. Maybe there is another WIS somewhere in another forum who has been looking madly for that same watch he is trying to sell... maybe it's even a grail for someone... As long as the threads/posts are positive, helpful, entertaining and generally good for the majority, it seems to me that one maximum sharing would be appreciated.

I've been guilty of the occasional double posting. I'm aware there might be a crossover in audience so I don't do it for every new topic - just those I think people might find interesting. I don't think it does any harm, provided you're not repeatedly spamming every Seiko forum. Sometimes I notice these double posts and I just ignore the second one I come across unless I think it's particularly interesting and the discussion is going to be different from forum to forum.
Over on SCWF there is a thread going about reduced participation rates compared to the past. If I'm asking a sensible question or posting a review then I think duplicate post can only help in this regard. Why would you discourage anyone from posting something relevant on WristSushi?
With regard to spell checking, I do most of my posting from an iPhone with a tiny onscreen keyboard and I'm constantly getting of/if wrong. Sorry :-)

Doesn't bother me too much. The rank-and-file at the SCWF were not the reason I left that forum. Lotta 'good Joes' over there, I just didn't care for the somewhat imperialistic moderating. It's fine by me if something originally posted here winds up over there. Occasionally, something interesting which was posted over there will wind up over here through the same mechanism. Besides, don't we WANT double-agents keeping tabs on those SCWF yahoos!?

Not an issue for me as well. I think the more we share, the better (as long as it is constructive to all). I don't do it myself simply because I rarely start them or I only target a certain set of enthusiasts but in general I don't mind seeing double posts either.

I don't have a problem with it (other than getting a double dose of Thomas' eye-watering pictures ). Not being an expert and needing to ask technical questions, I tend to only post "look what I've got" stuff on here, but if I need to know something I may post there too. I do however often use their preview function to check if I've got it right before posting here. Not wishing to break my own "Leave it on TOF" rule, there is a definite atmosphere which has resulted in me only visiting there occasionally in the last few months.

I don't see a problem with double posting when it comes to information to be shared or the sales forum. After all our insanity is to be shared. Lots of members only frequent one forum and some members are unfortunately prohibited from participating in other forums. I'm not in this hobby to take sides. I'm in it for enjoyment, to share information, learn, and have fun. Life's too short to hold grudges and sweat the small stuff. When I see a double post I either move on or see what others have to share, depending on it's content.

I can not see an issue with double posting, occasionally I do the same for longer look at what Pollys got type posts because I have buddies on both forums.
I agree with Dani SCWF has lost its mojo. I can not put my finger on why, maybe I just am outgrowing it? One thing I would say though is this forum has settled down very nicely and both the members and moderators deserve credit for developing a mature forum.

I don't have any issues with double postings. Not everyone is here or there, so it's sharing the info around like minded people.

I used to be a moderator at very big, very active forum (at that time top 10 worldwide). I see absolutely no issues with posting the same thing on multiple sites. As others have said, not all are members of multiple sites. Multiple sites on the same specialty tend to gain their own specific culture. By that I mean on what is tolerated or not and the general feel of the board. From my experiences the admins/moderators/owners have their own specific vision [or lack there of] of how they want their board to operate and apply rules accordingly.
