From what I have googled the first sports/diver with day/date from seiko was the 6106 8100. I could not find any information if they were the first but his listing is still wrong. Yes, the 6106 predates the 6119 by at least three years.

Wow, this seller seems really ridiculous. It's one thing to not be honest in listings, but it's pretty dumb to defend such practices.

Yes, the 6106 predates the 6119 by at least three years. Both movements came out the same year...1967. The earliest examples of both the 6106-810x and 6119-602x I have seen each date to 1968.

Call me an old bat, but I'm kinda keen for us to wrap this thread up. It's now starting to move towards an eBay policy discussion. We know the guy is a dill, he's been reported, let's move on!
Maybe let's do a sticky post featuring some details about SEIKO's first auto movements and how it was implemented. I don't actually know the answer to that, my suspicion is that it would be the base calibre of the 61 series?

OK so SEIKO say their first automatic was the 62GS, and 1967 is the first year they produced autos. www.seikowatches.com/press_release/2015/RLS1503-02/index.html "Because of these cherished and long held values, Grand Seiko’s history is a source of rich inspiration for its designers and the Grand Seiko Historical Collection is the result. In 2013, the 1967 44GS was recreated, in 2014 it was the turn of the 1964 “Self Dater,” and in 2015, Grand Seiko returns to 1967 and to its first ever automatic watch, the 62GS."
