I'd love to see a thread of them on here. I love the longer second hand and the 8000T dial marking on these. Are the metal (chrome plated?) lume plots more matte in finish to the later resist dials? I think I've seen that mentioned somewhere. Annoyingly, I see there is a very small hair stuck under the crystal! Will have to sort that out later. Anyway, hope you don't mind all the pics. The only others I've seen of these is estrickland's, among random pics on the internet at times, but not many. h Here are some more pics on imgurLet's see some more, come on!!!!

Nice watch!
Unfortunately, I've got no Proofs in my collection, just Resist.

Thanks, Groundhog! Well maybe this should be just an ode to the 6105-811x.

Always good to see that one Strick! The finish of your case is very similar to mine. It seems as though most pictures of the proof versions don't show the misty brushed look of some resist versions.
Am I right in thinking the finish of these was similar to the 800x 6105s and the brushed, cloudy, matte finish was introduced only with later resist versions?
I'll upload a picture of my other tomorrow.
Keep em coming, please!

Not sure how consistent it is. The 'matte' finish of the resists -811x's definitely still has a grain to it:

That pic is cool... Here is my Resist version. Only one I have that I can get off my phone atm. This is my best resist one and one where the finish is very 'cloudy', with only very subtle swirl and brushed lines... I'll take a better shot tomorrow, in the sun if it manages to come out!

In some light mine looks almost matte, as you say. Here's a seller pic before the crystal swap:

Yup that's the look. I'll take another pic of mine in a bit. I rarely see that look on 6105 800Xs, so wonder if it became a finish they adopted at a certain time. Like the brushed finish of the 62mas, the earlier 6105s match that more in my limited experience than the later ones.
Anyway keep em coming!

Closest I'll ever get is this great homage: Close but no cigar. I do like it though . . . modern Seiko movement and great lume! Maybe I'll hit lotto some day and be able to afford the real deal!

Here's mine, a 1974 6105-8110. Bought from the original owner complete with its original waffle strap, a users manual and some great diving stories told. A keeper for sure. I sent the watch off to Duncan earlier this year and he did an impressive writeup about the service of the watch and a great job. Also some fine pictures in there. 6105 Service

Yeeeahh.. Nice 6105s!
David, I remember reading that and was in awe. All the paperwork, too? Nice.
Cobra some great pics and that story I've also read ages ago. Great purchase!
Thanks all, keep 'em coming :-) Some lovely looking watches on show.

Yeeeahh.. Nice 6105s! David, I remember reading that and was in awe. All the paperwork, too? Nice. Only the manual came along. The gentleman said he had the original box somewhere in the basement, and would contact me if he found it. He bought it new on Malta in 1974 and used it for recreational diving. He told me he traded another seiko in at the jewelers as part payment. Here is another picture of the watch in as-found condition. /David
