I started work at 'silly o'clock' today, 5am. Which means I get to finish at 1pm, so home now and a weekend off looming, this one will be 'glued' too my wrist over the weekend. Sorry guys, only I did say in a previous WRUW that this would get boring.... Have a good Weekend everyone, whatever you are doing Vyn. Attachment Deleted

Bob, it's all your fault. Ever since I did that work on your dad's LeJour, I've been looking for one that would do the job for me. I found one last week on Reddit's watch exchange board (reddit.com/r/watchexchange) for a really solid price, and here we are. Totally original, complete with the bracelet. The Valjoux 7750 needed a full service, but once that was done it was awesome. Always fun to work on my own watches in the wee hours when everyone is asleep.

Congrats Spencer . . . . . that one is a real corker! I'm happy that you got one that was on your wish list! These watches are really nice and it's totally fun to watch the seconds sub-dial hand glide it's way around the circle. Did you have to re-lume it and did any of the indicies have to be re-glued / replace? TBH, I've been wanting to wear mine but have felt guilty about ignoring some of my others (which I also love). I think you've pushed me over the edge and I will take it out on Sunday for next week! We can be watch twins! Congrats again and do enjoy it . . . . it's a beautiful piece! Oh . . . . one last thing . . . . does this make me an enabler?

Oh . . . . one last thing . . . . does this make me an enabler? No, you simply acted as a guide to a new vista in the world of watches. In answer to your questions, cosmetically the watch was exactly as you see it. I bought it from a guy who bought it from the original owner, I think off of Craigslist. The original owner said he had the box somewhere, but couldn't find it. This was looks like it spent a lot of time in that box. It was a bit dusty, slightly dirty here and there, and the movement had zero lubrication anywhere. It had a few scratches on the crystal (new crystal is coming), but cosmetically it was (and is) excellent. The guy I bought it from sold it because it was running poorly. When it got here, the movement was running between 175-200 for amplitude and sounded like a Soviet-made sewing machine. After service it was quiet as anything, and cruised easily around 280 and up.

It's gotten a bit chilly in the north east. ( still in shorts though) my mod beater, bezel doesn't rotate, date does not change, painted the hands, dial is scratched...yet I find myself wearing this one more than any other. Rob Attachment Deleted

Oops, change of course, I almost missed my EPD Seiko Lupin III! An EPD is an Electronic Paper Display, a little like an LCD but with much blacker blacks and whiter whites, in other words with much high contrast than an LCD. The display has many little cells like pixels, that have white liquid and black liquid in them, and depending on the plus/minus charge of a particular cell, one of the liquids moves to the top. Seiko uses this technology for several Spirit Smart models, which aren't cheap, and I was intrigued by a Limited Edition that paid honor to a popular adult manga in Japan, Lupin III (aka Lupin the Third). It stars Arsène Lupin III the international master thief, and his sometimes partner in crime and love interest Fujiko Mine, and their nemesis Inspector Koichi Zenigata. Wikipedia: Lupin IIIMy 2012 Seiko SBPA007 is solar powered, time syncs to the atomic clock in Colorado, and can "hibernate" if in a dark environment long enough, waking up when brought back into the light. The EPD is opaque, so it can't use a backlight, but it does have two small LEDs you can invoke to see the display in the dark. Iy also features many different display modes. My "default" is the black on white large time display. Of course, there is a white on black version if you prefer! And there is a display mode where the number of the hour is integrated into a mange scene with characters from the show! Here is a Watch-Tanaka video where you can see all the hour displays in this mode! Seiko SBPA007Then there is a mode where the seconds are displayed, if you need that. There is a detailed World Time display... And you can set up to three separate alarms. The whole watch, bracelet and clasp is vapor-deposited with a (fingerprint magnet) glossy black. Okay, that was a unique what, don't you think? I gave one to my dear old Dad, it is his most accurate watch and the only watch he can read without his glasses!! Okay, tomorrow I should get back to those watches I talked about yesterday, that are very close to the SARB watches, but are not SARBs! - Thomas
