Once you start there are all sorts of things you can turn your hand to. I lost my sunglass case recently and decided it can't be that hard to make my own. Are you still making kangaroo skin straps Trist?

longbike , yeah, I guess I didn't think of the other side of the coin. When you receive all of these watches then you have to find time for all the new projects you didn't expect! Also it's like you said, finding information and parts to fix them becomes a challenge especially when it's a watch you haven't seen before. Nice problem to have though But I think longbike has these amazing people that look out for him as he is an amazing person that looks out for everyone else, and you reap what you sow I guess. (You can send me the five bucks later King Louis!)

No Seiko-specific expertise is needed for the 7546. Any competent local watchmaker should be able to get that watch going with minimal trouble. These movements are very robust and very simple. This. 100% this.

Here is an amazing article that captures a lot of great tidbits around the Seiko 6139-600X "Pogue" The article even talks about November 16 being "International Pogue Day" - disquished member @ pip pip literally INVENTED I.P.D. right here on WristSushi !Here's to you Phil !!
Thanks Jon! Not sure I've been called distinguished too often. Old yes, but distinguished... For anyone that doesn't know (and would like to know) David Flett is a decent Seiko guy and is the man behind Hudson Vintage Watches on Instagram. He and Allen Farmelo (the chap behind Beyond the Dial also did a multi-part podcast on how a mechanical watch works which is a good and pretty thorough intro to the subject that uses understandable language.

I still wear my Sharkey Apocolypse and Sharkey Tuna but as beaters more than anything. Decent quality, decent waterproofing, and if I destroy them I'm not that worried. Holidays on the beach and jumping in and out of the water with my boy? All day long. For tennis I have a few including a SKMEI that is extremely similar to the full metal G shock, but it arrived from China, with a very large (but not very high quality) bracelet, for less than £10.
They have their place in my stable but I doubt I will ever look on them the same way that I do my Seiko's, even the cheaper ones.

Thx ouroboros I used a suction cup and straight/strong upward tug to get the crystal off without risking the dial and inner parts. I am now really enjoying it with original crystal and shroud and might just leave it as is for the time being. Good job as I really struggle to get these crystals out without breaking everything

I am assume many of these parts are interchangeable with the 7548 quartz movement. Edit: My bad, I misread and thought it was 6309 on the title. It'd be a good idea to do a 6309/7548/7546 one of these, I'll add it to my list.

Hey all, it's been a while! I've been dipping in and out lurking, but I've not felt that I can contribute much the last while though and been stupidly busy with other stuff. I've been working on a number of 6139's and as is my habit I have created a parts list comparison for the four iterations of movement. Thought someone here may find it useful, so I've pasted pics of it below. If anyone spots any errors let me know, also if anyone wants the xls or pdf dm me an email and I'll gladly share the source docs, the image quality on these is not 100% as they are xls to pdf to jpg and lose a bit each time. And don't forget, 16th November is International Pogue Day people! Also just realised I can't have been around when the last benefactors drive was made, apologies Tim I will correct that soon.

This thread has brought back many memories from a few years back. Walking round with £50 notes trying to find a derelict building. Not many stay derelict for long round these parts! There’s even still a video on my YouTube with WristSushi logos everywhere which I used to grab a bonus point. I seem to recall a perennial favourite was the Herschey bar in the pool scenario. Always enjoyed that one although it demoted me from a first place tie, as I used a pepperami (salami stick snack) one year and Nick quite rightly called me on it.

Hi to everyone, thanks for letting me join the group. I have only a few Seikos but love them. Could anyone point me in the right direction to obtain Seiko part number 811720 date jumper spring. Have seen bigv86 but not sure how to pm him! Any help please, Regards George Welcome aboard! BigV is also on eBay so you can try him there too.

pip - Hah! Very cool indeed. Much like your wandering hours watch it's nice to see the different. I'm glad I asked for the follow up shot!
I have something else coming later this year that you should like then; watch [pun intended] this space!

Ok pip - that watch is upside down in it's case. What gives? How do we work it? Haha, it is rather different! The time is actually displayed between the bottom lugs. In this image it’s about 12:22 or so. It’s actually much easier to glance at the time without people realising when you are in meetings and such as you don’t have to move your wrist. It’s from Mad Galleries, and is called the MAD1 Red, which most people equate to it being an MB&F (but without the six figure price tag) as it’s from Max Busser (MB&F standing for Max Busser and Friends). Check out insta or wherever to see some other work from them. It’s less watchmaking and more kinetic art. Not everyone’s cup of tea but I love what they do although not cheap.
