I've always wanted a World Time and so I bought one I maybe should have known more about this model before I bought one, but it's too late for that. What do you all think? It's really hard to read the back, but it does have an olympic flame and says 6217-7000 and waterproof.

Love the linen dial on the World Timer. Congrats! Not sure about the NATO. I'd put it on leather or a bracelet, this one if I could find it:

I like the one in your picture, is that the Seiko coffin link one that seems to be quite hard to find?

If you want to keep what's left of the markings on the caseback; you'll have to use only two piece bands. Nylon will quickly remove what's left of the Olympic logo

These (6217-7000) World timers came on several different bracelets, this bracelet is just one of them and is the one featured in the original Seiko adds of the period. If you are lucky enough to find one, check that it's the correct width (19mm) they also came in 18mm which were fitted to the 5717/19 single button chronograph as well as a few other watches. The world timer was an expensive watch in 1964 at 12000Yen compared to the 5717 single button chrono for 8500Yen. The end links are difficult to swap over and can break, they need to have two tabs carefully straightened to remove them, also the bracelet a fixed length and not adjustable (unless someone can show me).

Nice World Timer! I like the linen dial on this one and (if available) the coffin bracelet too. But I think a nice leather strap would suffice. The linen dial would really go well with a black or dark brown strap. Congrats on finding a nice example.

Thanks for all the comments! I did have one question about the GMT hand. Most of the 6217 World Timers that I've seen have a black GMT hand. I know that there are two different kinds of black GMT hands, but I haven't seen many with a red one. What gives? I found the catalog, but it's black and white and it looks like the black hand without the parallel arrow.

They also look nice on a beads of rice bracelet. With regards to the 24hr hand I've seen parallel black ones, tapered black ones and parallel red ones like yours, but when and why they were changed is anyones guess. I always thought the tapered black hands were fitted to early (1964) watches but yours blows that theory apart!
