Having gone from digging them from a distance or on someone else's wrist, I now admit to chasing possession of a chrono. While I admire many of the offerings from Seiko, vintage and even some contemporary models, I'm really taken with some of the non Japanese brands. A instant grail level nominee would be the already discussed elsewhere here today, Heuer Autavia thanks to the Don . . . but being a bit more realistic for something relatively easily attainable, I totally dig the look of this model from Hamilton . . . always been a bit of fan of the classic Jazzmaster care of an uncle, but really know nothing of their quality. Any input most gratefully accepted. BTW . . . it's a quartz, as intimated, it's the look I'm concerned with for the purposes of this first foray, when it comes to spending big coin, it'll be an auto . . . can't believe I said that given my predisposition a year ago.

I'm a huge fan of Hamilton watches. However most in my collection are vintage.

@ Norm . . . cheers for the link mate but I'd already sucked the life out of that and all the other available guff, just needed some form of moderate group assurance that they weren't crap . . . I understand some of their upper tier Valjoux autos are pretty cool but have read bugger all re the quartz.
@ Groundhog66 . . . it's a weird thing personal taste, that's one of the elements of the design approach I quite like, the absence of the shiny-shiny thang, not to far removed from the fine brushed Seiko finish on many of the diver's and chronos we like . . . I love the dial and the hands though man, deliciosa !!!

The black one looks great, but I'd probably save up for one of these:

I dig that Black Khaki smiley-excited002 I agree. I prefer the elegant simplicity found in certain models of the Khaki line.

Thanks for the feedback lads . . . KingRat, classic call on the Seiko-ness of the black model . . . I do actually quite like the Seiko below but know bugger all about them of their movement either . . . . . . chronos for beginners, that's my level of comprehension.

I like the black dial a lot better. One thing about hammies, especially the low end is that the case finishing can be very simple.
This thread demonstrates the thing that irks me the most about Seiko and Citizen is that they rarely put the minute markers directly on the dial and when they do, the hands never reach the markers. I love that the hammie has those big fat hands with the little needle extending from the end to overlap with the markers. It may just be me, but I prefer the look of a dial without a chapter ring. I know why Seiko uses the chapter rings, but I like the simpler look without.

I've got one of these and I like it quite a bit. I do find myself a bit annoyed at the spinning that happens when you reset the chrono, but overall I'd say it's pretty nice for the price.
