This has to be a record for a 6139. It's got some positives, but still - $757? My top guess was maybe $400-500 Plusses: - Proof/proof
- Stelux Chiclet bracelet
- Original wooden box
- Paperwork
- Unrestored 85+% condition

Wow ! Did this sell on the bay? If so & no shill bidding was involved, then at least one other person valued it nearly as highly & perhaps it was someones birth-date grail ? And I suppose if the bidders/buyer earn a lot more than us average Joe's, if they see something they love, they're going to pay virtually anything to get it.
Okay, it's a nice early version with a rare bracelet & it's great to have the box & papers but it's basically a very common watch. More money than sense is a phrase that springs to mind.
So how did you come up with the Chiclet nickname Spencer, or is the answer only suitable for the Blue Room ?

Box and papers, where you gonna find another set? There are collectors that only collect examples with B&P. Mad the lot of 'em!

Crazy price right there, it's amazing how some put a value on the box & papers. Might be a little more leeway if it was an NOS example, but it's not.

Unreal, I would love to have that watch but not at that price.

Unreal, I would love to have that watch but not at that price. What do you suppose the average collector would pay, $500?

Unreal, I would love to have that watch but not at that price. What do you suppose the average collector would pay, $500? In that shape and with the box, papers and bracelet I would pay up to $500. I sometimes end up spending a lot more that just the purchase price. I don't hesitate to have a watch serviced and I always keep that in mind when deciding what I am willing to pay. Although were I to actually own a watch like that one I probably would not wear it very often.

Agreed, I'm assuming that a purchase like that, goes straight to the safe.

For me the wow factor comes because its on that bracelet. We should archive these shots as a proof of how these look when complete.

Beautiful watch, surprising price. I also figured this one would end up in the $500 range. But it was a nice package featuring an early, less often seen variant. First time I have seen "Chronograph Automatic" on the box lining.
I think ALL 6139-6000s were Proof marked? They were discontinued in '70 sometime and replaced by the 6139-6002 (with -6009 replaced by the -6005)?

The seller said he bought two of these brand new...wore one, stored the other. Didn't win the watch, but saved the pics.

I don't care how rare that other bracelet is, it's ugly. The biggest issue with that chiclet bracelet is that like those with similar hidden endlinks (6139-603x's for example) is that the bracelet is a fragile design, and it's super easy to lose those all-important endlinks. Once they're gone, that's it. I never wear mine as a result.
